Looking on the death of the year that I was born is a strange feeling. But it's okay because I know what it built will last. And in the end, that's all that's going to matter.

It really hurts finally learning what it’s like to change beyond recognition. It’s not like you thought it would be, because there’s no one left to enjoy it with. . Not really. Becoming so different means building a chrysalis around yourself to change in. . But when the change is complete and you have these new wings, you become painfully aware of the fact that it’s time to leave. It’s not possible to live your whole life in a chrysalis, no matter how nurturing it once was. . It will slowly begin to reject you in every possible way.
This same life keeps flashing before my eyes. I'm starting to wonder if it's mine...and what that means.
I want to be that guy who pulls your chair out for you and squeezes your hand a little when it's safe to cross the street. Who opens doors for you and asks how your day was every time you come home. The guy who makes sure you know that I respect you as much as I love you. Who knows what kind of food to bring home when you've had a shitty day and leaves you post it notes all over the house. The guy who compliments you on your dress ten times before the date is over but gives you my coat when the sun goes down before you can ask for it because I know you'll be cold. The guy who realizes what a gift your heart is and will defend it with everything he is. These guys may not exist anymore. . But that's who I want to be.
This year I taught my lungs work underwater. Now let's put that skill to use.
Am I even real? This doesn't seem real.
My girlfriend is literally the best. That's all. <3
My mom bought me a shirt that says "Carolina Strong". For getting my surgery. For making it out. Making it this far. She may never know everything that I'm fighting, but she knows how hard I'm fighting it. I'll have that shirt forever.
