Eleanor, was watching, Olwen run through the fields. “Be careful, little one!”called out Eleanor. Her hand on her showing stomach, and the other one was a basket, for sandwiches, a cupcake for his recent birthday, and toys for Olwen. Along with music to sing him songs. Eleanor, watched her son, running and laughing as he chased some butterflies, jumping up trying to catch one.
The dryad laid a blanket beside a tree, and watched as her son, played in the grass. She then began to take out things, such as the food and his toys, so she could watch him, but also relax for she was tired due to the baby. Olwen then ran up to her, smiling. “Mother!”
Eleanor smiled at her son. “Yes, little one?” pondered Eleanor.
“Why aren’t you playing with me?” asked the elf-dryad child.
Eleanor frowned and sighed. “’I’m a little tired, that’s all.”
“But you’re always tired!” groaned her son. “It’s like you don’t wanna play or grow flowers with me anymore!” Mummy, are you mad at me? I’m sorry for what I did.”
Olwen looked at her with those beautiful big blue eyes of his, looking sad. She reached for him, and he walked towards her, and she sat him down. “Olwen, my dear, I’m not mad at you. It’s just...I don’t want you to be mad for things will change soon, little one.” She thought about how to explain to a small child that he was to be a big brother. “There’s something important to happen in a few months time...Olwen, when I had you, things changed. And you were the most beautiful baby I’ve ever seen.. But this time, your father and I are expecting a new change. We all are- and I well- You know how High King Peter is a big brother to King Edmund?” The little blonde boy nodded his head.
“Yes mama”
“Well, you will be a big brother to the baby that I will have soon. And you will be the best big brother.’
“As good, as High King Peter?” asked Olwen.
Eleanor laughed. “Yes, my son, just as good. I just hope you are not upset.”
The boy grew quiet, and Eleanor got nervous for her son’s response. She hoped he wasn’t upset. Then a big smile, grew on his face, and he jumped for joy. Literally. “I’m gonna be like King Peter!!” exclaimed Olwen, and the dryad laughed. “So the baby is inside of you?” “Yes, it is.”
“Mother, how are babies made?” Eleanor then began to cough awkwardly, and said to him. “I’ll let you know when you’re older.”
She then handed him, his cupcake, for this past week was his birthday. “Happy birthday, my little one.” He happily ate away at his sweet.
The two ate their food, when they heard barking coming towards them. Eleanor, sat up, and saw what was coming towards them. Faster than ever, was a dog, a Cocker Spaniel to be exact, barking happily. She stood up, and looked at the dog.
Olwen got excited and Eleanor began to laugh. “I see you want to be our friend?” The dog excitedly barked, and she quickly realized it as a nonspeaking animal. “Mother, can we keep him.?” Eleanor looked back at her son. “Please!!!!! Oh please!!!!!!! Please!” he begged, tugging on her dress.
Eleanor sighed, and laughed. “Oh alright!” The dog jumped and wagged his tail. “You need a name, before you join our family.” Eleanor said to the dog, who ran in a fast circle. “How about Dash, since you’re extremely fast.”
Olwen jumped for joy, and threw one of his balls, for the dog to go fetch. “Yay, Dash is coming home with us! Thank you, mama!”
Eleanor, laughed, and she watched Olwen play with their new dog, suddenly realizing, that she should think of a way to tell her husband, when they got home.
