This is probably the best piece I’ve ever done and I’m actually so shocked lmao
according to my dash the only three people at the golden globes were hudson williams, connor storrie, and ayo edibiri and i just think that’s beautiful
Acting choices: (her methodology if you will):
little bump, rise/fall effect of the chest + the loose collar, head leaned to the right side, bent right shoulder, droopy eyelids (not exaggerated) with eyeballs to the left side. Then, we have a: Pulled back on the (less pronounced) droopy eyelids with a pronounced raise of the eyebrows and a centering of the eyeballs as well as a more straightened out shoulder. Eyes wild alert (almost shining too?) this time around and not blinking.
My interpretation(s):my findings so to speak:
Impatience a key part of character. [Head to the right side (peeking) before the rest of her body catches up can be, in a way, representative of jumping into things head first (im sure we’ve all heard that saying) indicating impatience and showing a certain level of eagerness which is all indicative of the headspace she’s at meeting her culinary idol for the very first time and jumping at the opportunity to work with and learn from him.
[little bump, rise/fall effect of the chest + the loose collar] to me gave the effect of a heartbeat skipping almost. Again, choices indicative of nervousness, holding one in high regard, and the whole nine.
[bent right shoulder, droopy eyelids (not exaggerated) with eyeballs to the left side] so a shoulder drop can be indicative of a lot of things but I think the most accurate reading of this would be letting go of tension, nervousness even (not fully in this case though imo) and shifting to a more vulnerable position where shes not as guarded and a letting go of tension. Doing this with another character is representative of opening themselves up, becoming comfortable, and representative of trust/surrender. All very fitting for her first time meeting him again because at this point in the story we’re entering this is all very new to her (to us as well) and this is the beginning of a new potential partnership especially when we zoom out with a bit more context about Sheridan but also bringing in the info about his food being the best she ever had. All of this body language serves is fitting to what she should be feeling. For the (non-exaggerated) droopy eyelids, I read that more as walking into a bit of a dream so to speak. Reiterating myself here but she’s meeting someone who’s well renowned in their industry as well as her personal culinary idol so all of this feels very new but also like this may not be really happening. It kind of gave a middle state (this body language of droopy eyelids but also it’s not super exaggerated) in between sleeping (as in not fully believing this is all happening to her) but also alertness (i don’t think this is the right word im tryna use here but ill go with it) in the sense that if she’s not alert, this opportunity could possibly miss her so to speak.
[Pulled back on the (less pronounced) droopy eyelids with a pronounced raise of the eyebrows and a centering of the eyeballs as well as a more straightened out shoulder] now im just talking fully alert body language here. No in-between states or anything else. She’s spotted him and now she’s fully alert. Raise of the eyebrows is yet another body language that’s open to interpretation. But in the context of what’s going on in the scene, i think that interest/curiosity is more fitting to what’s going on.
[Eyes wild alert (almost shining too?) this time around and not blinking]. Here goes the fixated body language that’ll basically continue as the rest of the scene continues with occasional pauses of said fixated body language.
Some more notes 📝 (bc i like to yap):
also wanted to mention that when she’s fully rounded the corner, with eyeballs shifted to the center (looking directly at him) and more straightened out shoulders with shining eyes. This is done in congruency with these things i just mentioned above. I thought that was worth pointing out as well. So is the other part previously where she has that effect of the little bump or rise/fall of the chest + loose collar and that’s done in alignment with the (not as pronounced) droopy eyelids and the dropped shoulder. Just thought that was neat.
yes, i watched this on a loop too many times than I care to count cause im a crazy person
