yeah I mean if they stuck to any sort of plan, Jesse would've died in season one and the entire show would've been really lacking without him, I think

Yeah absolutely! I don’t think Jesse was ever supposed to be as central to the narrative as he ended up being, and without that focus on him, it would have been a completely different story.

Another thing is that Walter was never supposed to end up becoming the villain he did. According to Gilligan, in the original conception, Walter was going to be the hero who by circumstances ended up navigating this criminal underworld. When they saw how the story was progressing and Cranston’s range and what he was bringing to the role, they realised they could deepen his characterisation and motivations.

The reason they managed to execute that so well was because they drew on plot points and character moments that had already happened so it felt like an honest progression, resulting in what was (at least in my opinion) one of the most fascinating and complex character arcs I’ve ever seen.

Roman never took it as personally as Dean did. Dean was fixated on Seth from their first appearance post-betrayal, but Roman's focus was on other things, and it mostly remained that way. So it makes sense to me that Dean would be the one who has the hangups while Roman let it go enough to work with Seth without too much drama.

okay, yeah, i get this opinion and it seems to be pretty commonplace. but as contradictory as it may seem, i think the fact that dean took it so badly and the fact that he’s such a creature of emotion actually makes it more likely for him to come around to forgiving seth. because as much as it hurts, he just can’t stop caring about him. seth stabbing him in the back and in the heart wouldn’t have been as devastating as it was if he didn’t have a deep love for him. and that doesn’t go away so easily.

roman, on the other hand, is a bit more stoic and methodical about the whole thing. if seth’s goals and his line up, then, fine, he’ll work with him. when they don’t, it’s every man for himself. but we’ve seen him become truly dangerous and vicious when he’s provoked (like seth did before extreme rules). dean’s rage when it comes to seth has mostly subsided because he’s had the opportunity to get it out of his system, but roman’s rage is a different story. god help seth if he ever truly triggers that dark part of roman tbh. coupled with their tumultuous history that hasn’t really been addressed yet, it’s gonna be hell to pay.

@ayumidah yessss put those bulky shoulders in a Burberry wedding gown and leave him to have a meltdown live on-camera at the staged wrestling wedding with his well documented RSD, his perfect day absolutely ruined and broadcasted to the world.

But the question then becomes, in the crumbling manor left to rot that is AEW, who does he start to matchmake, seeing himself in the cycle play out again, certain he can control it this time?

Other fun reminders: the wizened old crone Miss Havisham is in her mid-30s, who was betrayed and exploited for status and her family fortune despite warnings that the man she loved was a fortune-seeker with a history of chasing money and status, not loyalty and love. Embittered and destroyed be betrayal, she went mad and her quest for a daughter (version of herself) to love, turns to creating a version of herself to seek out and punish men without the weaknesses she had (love).

I always found his ".... I did it for me, I liked it, I was good at it, and I was really.... I was alive" line in the finale much more poignant and descriptive of who Walter truly was as a man, yeah. The One Who Knocks quote just felt like more Heisenberg bluster that never really meant anything.

Oh I absolutely agree with you and this is more me musing on fan engagement than anything actually in the show (Breaking Bad’s reputation for being horribly misunderstood by a large portion of its fanbase proceeds it). The ‘I did it for me’ line is the most honest, obvious, unsubtle representation of Walt’s character that we get. 

I do think that the One Who Knocks line is an important character moment for Walt as well! But only in as much as it shows his weaknesses in pretty blinding clarity - and overall that whole argument probably tells us more about Skylar than Walt.

And I know Owens and I think Seth had to do Axxess during the HoF. Which is probably just as well for Owens because he and Cornette do not get along.

Ah okay. I had to do something so I missed Dana’s speech so I didn’t see Enzo and Seth and Kevin were busy then huh. I had heard about Jim and Kevin not getting along I bet that would have been something had he been there xD

Oh man how awesome would that be? I’d probably go with a smutty novel that would put Fifty Shades to shame, not to mention make me filthy rich.
