A Sunday Vacation Along the Shores of the Pacific Ocean in Tolowa Dunes State Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the north while walking along the Pacific Ocean coastline in Tolowa Dunes State Park. The overcast skies and off and on drizzle helped to create what I felt was a minimalist feel to the image captured.
Ancient Bristlecone Pines Along a Mountainside in the Inyo National Forest by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Discovery Trail with a view looking to the north across a mountainside in the White Mountains. This location is in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest of the Inyo National Forest. My thinking in composing this image was to bring those trees more or less into the image center. There would then be some nearby foreground with the rocks and soil and the backdrop of blue skies above.
Church Rock (Black & White) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: For this image, I decided to try out this "Ansel Adams Look" I'd read about in Jason Odell's book on Capture NX2. The idea is to work with the LCH editor, making some adjustments, and then use a Black point and White point before converting to black & white.
My First Explorations of Everglades National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: As I walked along the Anhinga Trail and explored this area of Everglades National Park, I was mesmerized by the picturesque scenery that unfolded before me to the north. To my front was a pond coming off the freshwater slough around this area of the national park with a backdrop of mangroves, other small trees, and plant-life. The rest of the composition was just moving around until I captured a look with the lily pads.

Taking One Day at a Time in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Discovery Trail and taking in views of the ancient bristlecone pines in this portion of the Schulman Grove and Inyo National Forest. The view is looking to the north.
