My Every Journey Today in the Channel Islands National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: This was a setting extending to the east-southeast, where one can see the ocean waters off the coast of Santa Cruz Island in Channel Islands National Park. As the hike continues along the Cavern Point Trail to Potato Harbor Vista Point, one gets to experience this breathtaking scene with Scorpion Rock more or less in the image center.

To Stay Forever and Take in the Waters (Grand Portage National Monument) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I captured this image with a view extending to the east-southeast while walking around and exploring the area around the visitor center in Grand Portage National Monument. With this image, I chose to zoom in through an opening in some nearby trees to focus on the bay waters with the namesake island, as well as a little bit of land coming from what is depicted on maps as Hat Point. One thing that I later found out is that Isle Royale, with the national park, was the island that is located far off in the image beyond the nearby ones.

The Day After My Flight Is Only Beautiful (Pinnacles National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking the Balconies Cave Loop with a view looking to the southeast to rock formations and volcanic leftovers in Pinnacles National Park. This was from just beyond the Chaparral Trailhead Parking and the setting is of the High Peaks where I’d be hiking up to from the eastern side of the national park.

Herons Are Natures Silent Hunters with Stately Poise by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: I captured this image with a view extending to the east-southeast while enjoying a boat tour with the Manatee Sightseeing and Wildlife Adventures. This setting is along the Faka Union Canal not far from the Ten Thousand Islands area in Florida. With this image, I attempted to center a Great Blue Heron that was focused on finding food in the nearby waters. I used the subject detection on my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera to set the focus so that I could spend my attention more on the composition with the waters, shoreline, and backdrop of mangroves.

Taking in the Whole of a Hoodoo Setting at Sunrise Point (Bryce Canyon National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A wide angle view looking across the hoodoos and other eroded formations present at Sunrise Point in Bryce Canyon National Park. What also drew me into the setting was the trees and how they added a color contrast to the earth-tones present in the rest of the lower portion of the image.
