A Weathered Deck Tells the Stories of a Ship at Sea by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: Taking in a view while walking along a shoreline in Key West with a view looking to the southeast across the waters of the Florida Strait. With this image, I chose to center the ship off in the distance in the image, while having a balanced-on view with the waters and overcast skies.

A Ship Sets Sail on a Distant Horizon by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While taking in views at the Simonton St Beach View (Google Maps reference) with a view looking to the southeast across the shoreline to nearby waves coming in and then more distant waters of the Florida Strait. This is located in Key West, Florida. In composing this image, I wanted to get down low near the shoreline and angle my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward, raising the horizon higher into the image. I did this because I wanted to show more of the waves coming in as well as minimize what I felt was more of a negative space with the overcast skies. The rest was centering the ship along the horizon and working an exposure, so that I could bring out more colors for final processing.

My thought on composing this image was to capture a view looking up this mountainside with those majestic pines and other evergreen trees. The blue skies as a backdrop were that color contrast and also helped to better highlight the trees against the mountainside backdrop.

I Could Only Hear Happy Sounds As I Was Amongst the Mountains (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at a roadside pullout along the Icefields Parkway with a view looking to the southeast and Mount Wilson. This is in Banff National Park. I thought on composing this image was to zoom in to focus only on the mountainside with its details and folds. I also liked how the nearby evergreen trees helped to add interest across that mountainside.
