My Navigations in Waterton Lakes National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While at a roadside pull off with a view looking to the south along the main park road in Waterton Lakes National Park. I wanted to capture a view looking across the prairie and open land leading up to Vimy Peak.
Two Jack Lake and a View Beyond to Mount Rundle (Banff National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking along the lake shoreline with a view looking to the south in Banff National Park. With this image, I decided to use some large rocks that were present and add them as an interest in the foreground. I liked how they broke up the shoreline in that way. The rest of the image was taking advantage of the still waters and the reflection with Mount Rundle, as well as the backdrop of Mount Rundle. I angled my Nikon SLR camera slightly downward, so I could bring the horizon a little higher into the image, and bring out a sense of grandeur with the peaks and ridges.
Water Adventure in Everglades National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A balcony view from the room I was staying at the Flamingo Lodge and Restaurant in Everglades National Park. The setting is looking to the south. The setting includes a portion of the Guy Bradley Trail and the estuary of Florida Bay off in the distance. I angled my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera to raise the horizon higher into the image and bring out more of a sweeping view of this national park setting. If you look carefully across the bay waters, one can see a lone pelican in flight.
Get Yourself to Waterton Lakes National Park! by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While taking in views to the southwest across farmland and prairies with a backdrop of mountains and peaks in Waterton Lakes National Park. This is located at the Waterton Park Front along Alberta Highway 6. What I wanted to capture with this image was the sweeping view across this farmland and prairies leading to the more distant ridges and peaks in the national park. I decided to center that opening around Waterton Park in the upper portion with the mountains.
Guest Listening Along the Blue Ridge Parkway by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the south while taking in views across ridges and peaks of the Northern Blue Ridge while at a roadside pullout along the Blue Ridge Parkway. This is located at the Pine Tree Overlook. I took advantage of the higher ground I was located on and angled my Nikon Z8 Mirrorless Camera slightly downward to create more of a sweeping view across this Virginia landscape. I liked how it brought the horizon higher into the image and seemed to created more of a sense of grandeur, looking down into the valley and with the ridges and peaks I'll send the distance.
The love I lived, the dream I knew (Great Smoky Mountains National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: The love I lived, the dream I knew The caption used is from a poem by W.B. Yeats, The Collected Poems While at a roadside pullout (wet bottom trailhead) along the main park road in the Cades Cove area of Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The setting is looking to the south down the tree-lined, loop road. This was another location using the road ahead as a leading line that I’d seen in a few other images on Flickr for this section in the national park. The things on my mind were squatting down low to capture that perspective, aligning myself with the road for a balanced view with the trees, and metering the image so that I could bring out some of the vibrant colors in the trees, even on an overcast morning.
