It’s Always a Blessed Day When Staying at the Many Glacier Hotel (Glacier National Park) by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: A setting looking to the northeast while taking in views of several buildings around the Many Glacier Hotel. This is in Glacier National Park as I was heading out to walk around Swiftcurrent Lake. My thought on composing this image was to walk around until I could capture a view of the buildings so that they filled most of the image, while also having a backdrop of Altyn Peak to complement the Parkitecture type setting. The rest was later making adjustments with control points in DxO PhotoLab 6 to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.

This was while taking in views along the shores of Lake Josephine with a view looking to the northeast to Grinnell Point. My thought on composing this image was for a look across the lake waters and mountainside and then beyond to a more distant mountainside. Given the rainy day that day, I wanted to minimize those overcast skies. I did though want to capture some of the details in the clouds and worked a shorter exposure to minimize blowing any highlights, knowing I could process to bring more out later in post-production in DxO PhotoLab 7.

Itineraries in Exploring Death Valley National Park by Mark Stevens Via Flickr: While walking along the dune ridges and flats in the Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes of Death Valley National Park. The setting is looking to the northeast with ridges and peaks of the Amargosa Range off in the distance. What drew me into this setting was the almost minimalist look of the sands in contrast to the details present in the mountainside. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 6 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
