Just slice a few very thin pieces of cantaloupe and mango. Roll up the first piece and wrap the remaining pieces around it to create a flower. 🎨⭐️🌈✨ Simple symmetry puzzle art is one of my all time favorite easy and educational art projects! It’s simple to set up, mess free, requires few supplies and keep kids entertained. It’s the perfect project for a rainy day, summer afternoon, or day off from school. 🎨⭐️🌈✨ This is a great way for children of all ages to explore the concepts of positive and negative space and symmetry. Preschool aged children enjoy completing the puzzle after it has been drawn and cut out, and older children are able to draw complex designs, carefully cut out each piece and complete the symmetry puzzle. Scroll through to see step by step pics. Supplies: one sheet white cardstock, half sheet colored cardstock, pencil,scissors, and glue. . . 1. Discuss positive/negative space and symmetry and brainstorm symmetrical objects. 2. Fold a colored piece of cardstock in half and cut down the middle. You will only need a half sheet of cardstock. 3. Draw a simple or complex design on one half of the paper. Be sure to draw design along the middle crease and outer edges of the paper so it is easier to cut out. 4. Cut out design and be sure to save all the cutout pieces. 5. Reassemble the cutout design on one side of a white sheet of cardstock. 6. Carefully flip over each cutout piece and place it in the corresponding spot on the blank half of the white cardstock. 7. My kids were very excited to try out the Hand2Mind Bones Dissect Owl Pellets kit. Swipe to see all the great pictures we captured of this innovative, hands on, STEM activity for kids. . . My kids enjoy all things science and STEM based and can often be found dressing up as scientists and creating their own experiments. The instructions were clear and easy for my 9 and 7 year old to follow on their own. At first they were a bit grossed about the idea of "owl vomit" and picking the bones out of fur and feathers. However, once they uncovered the skull piece and identified eye sockets and teeth they were hooked. They spent hours at the table dissecting the owl pellets and separating the bones into various categories. Even my 5 and 2 year old joined in the fun and took turns using the tweezers to pick up the bones and look at them under the magnifying glass. My older children quickly began referencing the instruction booklet and using the new terms they had learned as they discussed their findings. After classifying bones and trying to recreated skeletons, my daughter even insisted that she try out the additional activities and now has 2 containers of bones soaking in cola and vinegar for the next 7 days! As soon as the @hand2mindinc Moving Creations with Knex package arrived my boys were begging to start building. They quickly started with the first project and moved on to the more complex builds. This kit teaches kids about pneumatics and hydraulics while they build rocket launchers, submarines, and dump trucks. It features 9 different builds and 18 STEM experiments. The instructions were clear and easy to understand and there were also experiment pages to record findings and ask questions after each build. My boys were entertained for hours and played with it again the following day.
