The truth is, the 💖 emojis don’t refer to anything in Sarah’s post. She uses them all the time but there is a specific pattern: the emojis between the hearts are ALWAYS hinting at the theme of the book. She wrote 🎶, it’s so gonna be Azriel’s book y’all just can’t accept it.

Pre-acosf, antis claimed that elriel were strictly platonic, nothing is happening between them and they care for each other as siblings would.

Acosf -> Sjm explicitly wrote elriels on-page attraction to each other as well as their almost kiss in the bonus. She proved antis wrong.

Acosf, Antis claimed the shadows leaving was a bad thing and showed how uncomfortable Azriel was around Elain and how they can’t be together bcs of his shadows leaving.

Hosab -> Sjm writes a scene with Cormac, a form of shadow-wielder just like Azriel, he takes a deep breath and becomes calm - his shadows disappear. Once again, Sjm proved antis wrong. The shadows leaving are not a bad thing. The opposite actually.

Acosf, antis claimed that since elriel were left on a bad note they can’t be endgame.

Hosab/hofas -> RhunLidia.

Acosf, Antis said that Az was wrong about the cauldron. Hofas -> proved antis wrong. The cauldron was messed with.

And im sure there are many other instances of Sjm over the years since acosf, disproving all the BS antis claim. When you’re proven wrong all the time by the author herseld in the books, I guess you have to turn too old interviews and statements (that are irrelevant for the current storyline) to make yourselves feel better about your ships.

Az spent an entire year planning a snowball fight, yet he never planned for a future with Elain aside from pleasuring himself.

they choose what they want to read huh🤷‍♀️ you’re telling me they disregard every moment elain and azriel have shared in the previous books which are all canon and, now, it was said by sarah that previous books foreshadow future stories/events. all of that to come to, them thinking “the third” is about distancing himself from elain? he’s hurt. he’s lashing out, he’s saying his most deepest and innermost thoughts because he’s hurt and upset because the woman he actually wants and has feelings for is mated to another male. he’s questioning the cauldron, the mother, fate itself about why elain is mated to lucien. he knows elain doesn’t even want him, also thinks lucien wouldn’t be a good match for her (he thinks like us LoL) and also knows he could defeat him without little effort, if the blood duel were to ever happen, and rhys knows that. do they really think azriel will listen to rhys? he dismissed feyre’s order about pulling all his spies out in acosf, looked to rhys for confirmation about it, and even said “chain me to a tree, rhys. i’ll rip it out and fly with it on my damned back.” and they expect him to follow orders to stay away from elain? no, he won’t. he won’t do that. i fear they don’t understand his character.

Antis don’t understand any of these characters. Their is the canon version of the characters.

Azriel being into Elain. Azriel questioning his religion/ God over Elain. Azriel staying away because of Elain. Azriel not being able to sleep because of Elain. Azriel who literally straight away tolf Rhys he cant do that aka pull rank. Azriel who wanted to beg on his knees for Elain -> all of that points to elriel so antis have to dismiss the scenes as irrelevant or toxic before inserting their fanon version of Azriel, who will be a good little boy and listen to his HL. Who doesnt actually care about the woman he is questioning his god for, he just wants a mate etc.

They do not appreciate nor care about the canon versions of these characters bcs the canon characters do not align with elucien/gwynriel. Thats why antis always play around with their IDEA of these characters that are very vaguely based on canon. They will only like Az and Elain as long as their stories go in the direction antis want it too. Look at all the gwynriel stans that claim to want the best for Azriel - these same stans are the ones who labelled him as an incel with multiple disorders and condidtions, A careless F-boy, mentally ill etc. You dont find elriels hating on Azriel or potraying him as a disgusting man like antis do.

So no, you are right. Antis refuse to understand Azriel’s character and in the end - thats their choice.

I haven’t seen nearly enough people talk about how Azriel and Gwyns jobs perfectly compliment each other. The spymaster and the researcher. Are you kidding me? It’s perfect. Gwyn find the information and Azriel puts it to use. The perfect team. I can see Gwyn becoming the official researcher for the inner circle.

that ask about azriel following gwyn’s sharp laugh— where. where is it? because i remember him half turning his head when she let out that squeal. and him not taking her hand when she willingly offered it. and him talking to her in the bonus because he had to, because he didn’t want to be rude, not because he wanted to. he had time in acosf to seek her out for one on one training, or more dagger lessons. but he didn’t. or on solstice, perhaps. afterwards. but nothing. it’s clear he doesn’t like her romantically in the way others say. at most she’s just a friend, or an acquaintance.

So either:

. OP forgot it was an elriel moment

. Had no more gwynriel moments to use so used an elriel one hoping no one would notice

. Used it to trigger “elriels”

All options that are equally pathetic and embarrassing for the gwynriel ship, I would also like to be that person and point out how odd it is to add Gwyn ignoring Azriel as a “gwynriel” moment when she was shocked/uncomfortable due to her trauma and seeing Az after two years, something Cass notes literally saying he should’ve asked Gwyn first about Az…but hey what are we expecting from the crowd that cant tell when a female character is uncomfortable unless it is specifically written in the text?

Its simple. Gwynriel arent romantic, they have no foundation for anything outside of a trainee/mentor relationship. That one single dagger lesson took place before the bonus and was so irrelevant Az never brought it up in his pov, Gwyn never brings it up, and its never stated to be a reoccurring event, what makes it embarrassing for gwynriels even after this session he went home and thought about a certain doe eyed seer. The cherry on top? They’ve had TWO private sessions thay gwynriels are claiming are so monumental and important, “the start of something new between Gwyn and Az” yet even after these life changing sessions - who does Az think of? ELAIN. Who does Az not consider a friend? GWYN. He wanted to bank the minute he saw Gwyn, sure Gwyn gave him an out but he stayed why? He needed a distraction. Imagine someone using you as a way to forget their own heartache??? I feel bad for Gwyn and for gwynriels who have to romanticise such a truth.

Az doesnt like Gwyn romantically. We still dont know if he considers her a friend, he’s proud of her accomplishments and had encouragement for Gwyn to cut the ribbon like any good teacher should. Thats it. That is gwynriel in a nutshell
