Sweet Home Beacon Hills

Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 22,703 Author: gottalovev Summary: Stiles left Derek, the pack and Beacon Hills behind when he moved to Boston six years ago and never looked back. Until his girlfriend Kelly proposes to him, that is. It forces Stiles to go back to Beacon Hills in order to sort out his past, but he soon realizes that life and feelings are more complicated than that.

Have you seen Sweet Home Alabama? I haven't, but now I'm going to. Stiles left Beacon Hills (surprise, for the right reason) but comes back to make Derek sign their divorce papers. It's canon divergence, with emphasised divergence, because it's a future fic where werewolves were exposed and Stiles and Derek got married.  There's really a lot of feelings, becuse you pity Derek, then Stiles, then almost everyone, Stiles's fiancée included. It's nice, interesting, well written and plot actually makes sense, which isn't so common in break up fics.

It's Been Four Hundred and Ninety Days

Rating: Teen/PG Word Count: 4,486 Author: paradis Summary: It’s been four hundred and ninety days, and it took Derek forever but they’re at day one again.

I'm pretty sure I shed more tears than this fic has words. Like in every break up fic, Derek is an idiot, but this time Stiles has some dignity. I love it. There's no I just want you to be safe or thigns like that. Stiles has enough of it, so he goes away and it's just perfect. Especially that he doesn't spend all the time crying, but lives his life. There's also no leaving the whole pack - just break up.

And Poor You And Poor Me

Rating: Mature Word Count: 24,936 Author: hayesgeneration Summary: It’s just a good, old-fashioned and very human break-up, leaving behind just a lot of silence and the quiet, strangely misplaced wish for instant gratification by death or something equally permanent because the ache in his chest seems completely unbearable.

Angsty break up fics are my only weakness. I love that in this one it's more complicated than the usual I wanted to protect you. As you can guess, Derek's still an idiot, but there's also some action, hunters and not just relationship drama. I long for the fic, where Derek wants Stiles back after dumping him, but he just tells him to fuck off. Well, I know that it's harder to get happy ending then, and here author explains why Stiles goes back to him, but I still don't find that very convincing. But except for that, it's not bad.

Sinking Like a Stone (Carry On)

Rating: Mature Word Count: 19,962 Author: iamnightbird Summary: Derek Hale is convinced he can protect his pack from anything. Kanimas, other packs, even the supernatural that remain myths (like demons and the such), but an event hits him like a punch to the gut to remind him that the things he can’t protect his pack from are the everyday horrors in which life makes us her bitch. [Blind!Stiles]

In supernatural universes nobody ever gets hurt in normal circumstances. Well, gets here. There's surprisingly a lot of fluff, for a story with such angst. There's not only angst because of being blind, but also Claudia Stilinski feelings and Alpha Pack drama. But with kind of a happy ending!

More Wolf Than Boy

Rating: NC-17 Word Count: 8,018 Author: herlovewasajoke Summary: Stiles always tries to protect the ones he loves, but sometimes he's the one who needs protection. (Or, in which Stiles is a werewolf and Derek didn't make him that way.)

Quite short and angsty, with a little of porn. Stiles tries to get out of pack and of course Derek won't let him, so he visits him in college. Nice change after fics where he's kicked out of pack, or moves away and nobody even cares.
