Recently people have been posting videos of themselves wailing their arms while a dub step track by a producer named Baauer plays and are calling it the Harlem Shake. As a rapper and a person that loves hip-hop I feel the need to tell you that, while funny, those videos DO NOT show people the REAL HARLEM SHAKE, not even close. The link I’ve posted is a video of hip hop music videos that depict people doing the Harlem Shake the way it’s supposed to be done. Now don’t get me wrong I’ve got nothing against people wanting to dance funny for youtube nor do u have an issue with people wanting to take something from the past and making it new. But i feel as if this “new Harlem shake” is making the old/original Harlem shake become lost in history. So stop calling it the “Harlem shake” why not just call it the Baaeur Shake instead? That way you can still make viral videos of it without leading people to forget about the original Harlem shake. It’s a part of Hip-Hop culture and black history and should be treated with respect
