From Burkina Faso, Mamadou Sanou aka Baba Commandant and his band blend the Mandingue musical traditions of their region with their love for the music of Fela Kuti, King Sunny Adé and Moussa Doumbia. Brought to the world on vinyl via the great Sublime Frequencies label with their fiery debut Juguya. Along with his commanding rhythmic bark, Baba Commandant also plays the six-stringed donso ngoni, enforcing the hypnotic insistence of the Mandingo Band’s beat.
