Jekyll and Hyde
Richard Dadd- Bacchanalian Scene
I need a whole book focused on the bacchanal.
Like, I want to know every single step precisely.
(even, especially, the sexual part)
Silver bowl; embossed, engraved and partially gilded on the central roundel medallion which shows a Bacchanalian drinking scene with a pot-bellied open-mouthed male figure seated on the ground, bare-chested with a transparent tunic with cuffs and adecorated neckline revealing his genitalia beneath, low boots with edging at the top and upward curled toes, a crown with bunches of grapes hanging down on either side, drop earrings and a pigskin draped over his lap and held in his left hand, with an animal-headed rhyton aloft with his right hand as the wine spurts into his mouth while he gazes at a young buxom female figure seated to his right; she is dressed in a long flowing belted gown with long tight sleeves ending in embroidered cuffs, with a central brooch securing a cloak over her shoulders, her long hair gathered at the front with a tress hanging in front of the ears and the remainder drawn into a long tight pigtail down her back, earrings, a beaded necklace and a bangle on each wrist as she holds a stem-footed decorated goblet aloft in her left hand and what appears to be a diadem in her right, the pair enclosed within a pair of vine scrolls springing from the bottom, enclosed within a low raised plain border, the remainder of the bowl being decorated with wavy fluting below a rolled-over inverted rim; missing a presumed foot-ring. The background of the central roundel and the vine scrolls bears extensive traces of gilding and there are additional traces or hints of gilding on details, including the diadem, collar, earring and bangles of the seated male and earrings of the female figure. Punched details include the belly button of the male, chasing indicating a pair of folds of his tunic around his stomach, and a shallow chased Y chevron on his left shoulder.

Me, being teleported into my favorite book: this is so cool!
Me, finding myself in the middle of the woods, at night, dressed as a farmer: oh no.
