Hey,

I’m reading the Nights in Sandbridge series again and I just had to say how much I love it and how much your stories are a comfort to me. I missed reading this series for a while (it was an annual thing haha) and I’m just really fond of the world you created.

I read them for the first time when I was 21 yo, and I just turned 30 this month. They still make me think about life and remember all I’ve learned from reading them.

I just wanted to share a bit of the love I have for it.

Oh my god, I...

I have been having a rough week--nothing of concern, just a whole host of annoyances and minor disasters coupled with a huge peak of stuff at work--and this ask has me smiling like literally nothing else ever could have.

I'm so glad that you still find comfort and joy in those stories; they are among some of my favorite things I have ever written, and it delights me every time I learn that someone has re-read them even once, much less that many times!

Also, writing those stories is also one of my favorite memories of working with tisfan. I still miss her every single day, but knowing others are still reading words that she crafted, especially words that she crafted with me, is like lighting a remembrance candle in my heart and filling me with warmth until I can almost feel her hands on mine.

I saw your tags wondering about broadcast TV and cable - the answer is YES, they both still exist! And I know, because I still have cable TV, and I still watch broadcast TV shows. I feel like that officially makes me an old lady. :D

That's kind of comforting and interesting. My husband bought a digital whaddayacallit. . .antenna! so he can watch, I guess broadcast TV? I admit I wasn't listening that well because he does a lot of weird things with media these days, most of which I don't understand.

One thing I would prefer, actually, are television commercials. Most of my media-viewing is via YouTube, and internet ads are a whole nightmare. Currently YT thinks I live in New Jersey, which is interesting and wrong. I'm so tired of made-for-youtube ads for non-products that feature a fake tiktokker who starts out by saying "This feels illegal to know, but!" or "I don't want to freak anyone out, but!" SO TIRED. I'd give anything for a 30 second ad for an actual product I may need or want.

We definitely could stand to cut back on streaming services; I'm going to look into dropping at least one.

Speaking of insane ads, today I saw an ad for a new series "From FX on Hulu with Disney Plus." I have no idea where I would watch this series, if I wanted to.

the queen fandom is so cool, like correct me if I'm wrong but there's very little negativity and everyone is just super sweet and sincere. No one is mad that's there's new queen fans just because the movie is coming out, instead everyone is being really welcoming and I think that's swell.
