one week until our glacier national park belly river trip, and i still need to break in new boots. i picked up a neat headlamp that has a real wood front panel. it’s stylish but more importantly; bright. i need more socks, i currently only have two pairs of solid hiking socks, and this will be four days of trekking.
the weather is cooling off dramatically, so it’ll be cold. the belly river is pretty low elevation, so there shouldn’t be snow accumulating down there, but if we take lee ridge into the valley, there could very well be some white stuff up there. i don’t care, though, i really need to see the view from the ridge.
our friend alex is coming along, which will be good for breaking up the food load between the three of us. but also, we’ll have to figure out food for three people for three nights.
we’ve been monitoring the fires in the west of the park, and hopefully they don’t impact our trip too much. there will most likely be some smoke, it’s unavoidable, but at least the fires will be a safe distance from our intended path.
i’m so excited, i am so ready for my longest backpacking trip so far. i’m excited to see parts of glacier that i never have, and to get out into the woods for a few days before fall really hits. i’ll be coming back with lots of pictures, so soon i won’t have to reblog all these beautiful shots of glacier np, i’ll be able to add my own!
