The more I look at animals, the more I realize people are just animals too.
I see people in domestic animals vs shelter or wild animals. Domestic animals that were raised in good conditions often take things for granted. They will turn their nose up to things, demand to have more of something (petting, play, food), and tend to be lazy when given difficult tasks.
Rescued or wild animals given good treatment after having a time of hardship tend to show more gratitude, savor the gifts given to them, show respect, and are much more observant and quick to work on a difficult task.
Obviously, there are always outliers, but I’ve seen it in mammals to birds to fish to insects. How strange it is to be called intelligent when surely most things in the world could easily step up to the plate. How simple and wild we really are.
