These baked beans in the South make a great addition to any cookout or BBQ. They have a smoky bacon flavor that makes them incredibly delicious. They are rich, sweet, and savory. Your visitors will return time and time again!
Ingredients: 4 cans 28 ounces each canned baked beans. 1 cup ketchup. 1/2 cup molasses. 1/2 cup brown sugar. 1/2 cup diced onion. 1/2 cup diced green bell pepper. 1/2 cup diced red bell pepper. 1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon. 1/4 cup yellow mustard. 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar. 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce. 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. In a large mixing bowl, combine the canned baked beans, ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, diced onion, diced green bell pepper, diced red bell pepper, and cooked and crumbled bacon. Add the yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper to the mixture. Stir well to combine all the ingredients thoroughly. Transfer the bean mixture to a large oven-safe baking dish. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-60 minutes or until the beans are bubbling and the top is caramelized and slightly crispy. Ingredients: 2 cans 15 oz each of navy beans, drained and rinsed. 1/2 pound bacon, chopped. 1 onion, finely diced. 3 cloves garlic, minced. 1/2 cup ketchup. 1/4 cup molasses. 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard. 1/4 cup brown sugar. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper optional. 1 cup chicken broth.
Instructions: In a large skillet, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat until crisp. Remove bacon and set aside. In the same skillet, saut the diced onion and minced garlic in the bacon grease until softened. Add the drained navy beans to the skillet and stir to combine with the onion and garlic. In a bowl, mix together ketchup, molasses, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, black pepper, and cayenne pepper if using. Pour the sauce over the beans and stir to coat evenly. Add the cooked bacon back to the skillet and pour in the chicken broth. Simmer the beans over medium-low heat for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and flavors meld. Serve hot and enjoy your Great Bacon Beans!
