You know, I do think it's important sometimes to remind yourself of your own taste. Even if it's bad. Especially if it's bad.
Like, it's easy to get into the habit of wanting things to be "good". Especially if you've seen a lot of not only bad, but boring things lately, you might start looking things up, checking the ratings, only wanting to watch "good" stuff. It's a habit I should probably break myself of.
Because sometimes what critics and even audience scores consider "good" is not what you want to watch. Sometimes you just want to watch something dumb and funny, something that you and your 5 friends (or no friends! watch things for yourself too!) will absolutely adore while everyone else stares on in confusion. And if you've gotten stuck in the critic mindset, you're going to miss a lot of awesome stuff that might not give you a whole new perspective on life but sure will be the highlight of your day.
Anyway, this is brought to you by me watching The Fall Guy on a whim (because tumblr <- ryan gosling <- phm) and getting abruptly slapped in the face with the reminder of how much I adore slapstick comedy. Who cares that the plot is a thin layer barely stretched over an excuse for a bunch of stunt guys to have the time of their lives? I got to watch 2 hours of stunt guys having the time of their lives! It was awesome!
Kill the critic in your head, watch what you like, and have fun :)
