I legit have like nothing to do at work today so I was trying to look up and save exercises and workouts on bodybuilding.com, and I hate to sound whiny but why is it so hard to navigate? I am a search engine and information science and usability person BY EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND PROFESSION and I usually am able to work around even shitty designed sites, but I *cannot* figure it out. I can’t just save an exercise. I can’t figure out how to see the actual exercises contained in a program. It took me 15 minutes to figure out how to add new measurements yesterday. And I’m not even sure I could do it again if I tried right now.
They have a pretty and shiny website, but it is just not usable. I cannot figure it out. I ended up Googling “bodybuilding.com exercise database” because I can never find it by navigating around the site itself. It’s always taking me to articles about “6 ARM WORKOUTS YOU’VE NEVER HEARD OF” and shit. The BodySpace app is even worse. Unless I’m only finding programs that are totally blank and empty of exercises or something? I’ve tried adding a bunch of programs just to troubleshoot it, and I’m still stuck.
It’s frustrating, because the database is excellent itself; I just want to be able to SAVE a damn exercise to favorites or something, yanno a simple and well-established user functionality...
