Baderon is such an underrated NPC in this game. Our number one supporter since the first time we arrived in Eorzea. I check in on him every new update to see if he has something new to say. Every time we do something grand in this game, he just gushes how proud he is of us. He is one of the reasons I'm happy I chose Limsa as my starting city.

some jayden facts

they're half viera and half au ra

because of their biology their ear canals are formed like a viera's even though they process sound through auri horns. this makes them less receptive to sound and spatial cognition than the average au ra.

they used to be down bad for baderon

they clicked with haurchefant and got married in secret after jayden first defeated shiva

they have a light-hearted relationship with midgardsomr. jayden calls midgardsomer "middy" and midgardsomr intrudes on private moments between haurchefant and jayden. (haurchefant welcomes it, though, even making a tiny sweater for middy in anticipation of the next interruption)

What it Takes to Break

“It’s Ruby, Admiral, she’s been attacked, outside the Drowning Wench.”

“What!?”

“Miss Blake came up to me, telling me that she and Ruby were attacked. Captain Jacke came and sent her to the Arcanists, he says that Baderon believes that Ruby was stabbed with a poisoned knife.”

If there was more that Zanthael had to say, it would have been said to nothing more than air as Merlwyb swept past him. There was a silent command that the sergeant followed swiftly, operating the lift. The moment the lift reached the Bulwark Hall, the Admiral pushed past him and over to Grehfarr. The Storm Sergeant winced as the Yellowjacket hurried to open the lift to the Drowning Wench.

Navigator have mercy on whoever had attacked Ruby, for the Admiral would have none.

My love letter to some of the BEST NPC’s in FFXIV:ARR

So I started a new toon (cause altoholism and sometimes I want to hide and not have any responsibilities and sometimes I want the right to make mistakes and learn without people going “You have like 10 80′s!! how do you not know this?” Cause I’ve never played THIS job before bonehead! ANYROADS... I found some of my favorite NPC’s again and I remember why I love them (note, I’m only 22 so I’m still finding those I adore, this may be the start of a long list of things)

Baderon: The Head of the Adventurers Guild in Limsa Lominsa and the Proprietor/Barkeep of the Drowning Wench

This man is a GEM. The WOL had only just signed their name to the rolls of the Adventurer’s Guild and this man was already jumping in front of them to defend them against some over-enthusiastic Yellowjackets. 

Later (if Limsa is your starting city), You learn that Baderom was an adventurer in his own right and a bounty hunter besides. He learned Sahagin by hunting them and stealing their missives. He’s integral in learning what is going on and getting you in to see the Admiral. I ADORE this man.

Momodi: The Head of the Uldah’n Adventurers Guild and the proprietress of the Quicksand

She’s who you cat with if you start here, but I didn’t so I missed a lot of her amusing chatter. However, this is what you get when you come back from Copperbell and what follows after. She’s not afraid to let you know what she is thinking and she has a thing or two on her mind. But she is a good soul and believes you (and the Scions) are good souls too.

Jandelaine: Our beloved aesthetician. 

Jandelain.... is just over the top. there is no moderate setting on this elezen and I FREAKING ADORE IT. Everything from freaking out about lost tools to the little sashay when the cut scene is over: I. Love. Jandelaine. I know whenever I need to, if ever anything about my look is getting stale or I am caught in the midst of ennui in my style, I can call on Jandelaine and be A Beauty Reborn!

So I'm playing through FFXIV for the first time, I'm not very far, but can I just say how deeply amusing it is to me how everyone in Limsa Lominsa just kinda glosses over the MC's visions?

"Hey Y'shtola, you know how I passed the fuck out while you were examining that monster's body? Yah, I had a vision."

"Cool cool, take this knife I found back to that guy"

"Hey, I know Severin just got his head stomped in and you're worried about his obvious concussion, but are you like, not worried about the perfectly healthy person who just collapsed right next to you guys for a few minutes?"

"It looked like you needed a nap. Anyway meet'cha at the farm"

"Hey Baderon, how did I get to my room?"

"Oh you stated groaning and clutching your head in pain in the middle of your conversation with the Admiral and passed out, so I figured you must have been tired and brought you back here."

"Not to a doctor?!"

Incredible apathy to your apparent chronic migraines and alleged narcolepsy. Having visions? You're very special and you've got crystal in your brain or whatever. Anyway, good work kid, it's amazing how effective a worker you are despite how violently you spontaneously fall asleep.
