your country had gone into lockdown recently

and your friend group had been video chatting daily

sometimes even playing games together or watching movies

games like among us, jackbox, cards against humanity, uno online

one among us game, your group needed one more person to play

so one of your friends asked their friend jacob if he wanted to join

and he agreed

so he was added to the group chat

from then on he was a loyal member of your friend group

he messaged every day, always joined the video calls & gaming sessions

he brought such good energy and positive vibes to your group

so of course everyone liked him a lot from the get go

and he quickly found a permanent place in the group

a few weeks pass by

and your group had plans to video call & watch a horror movie together at 8pm

but when you entered the discord call, jacob was the only one there

you enter the voice chat and ask him where everyone else is

“i have no idea, i’m just playing genshin and waiting for everyone”

you waited for quite a while before your friends finally replied to your message

one saying that they actually can’t watch tonight

one friend forgot about it

and everyone just decided to cancel the plans

while you were disappointed, you ended up just staying on call with jacob all night

you really connected

becoming super close from that moment on

calling almost every day

and at the very least dming each other every day

nearly 24/7

you quickly developed a crush

falling for him very hard

you tried so hard to repress it and deny it to yourself

he became your best friend so fast

and you’d hate to ruin what had developed

you were so happy right now and if you lost him by bringing your feelings into it

one day one of your best friends noticed your chemistry with jacob in the discord call

so they slid you a dm

this made your heart drop, making you stop laughing as you become nauseous

“,,, what” you type back almost instantly, panicking

“i’m just curious, either way he clearly likes u. u should go for it, ur so cute tgt”

this made you gasp loudly in disbelief, making everyone confused

then you just left the call without saying a word

you didn’t know what to do

was it obvious you liked him? what if he found out? what would happen to your friendship? to the group?

you saw a message notif come up in your dms

from jacob

your heart stopped

you scroll through the rest of your messages trying to avoid his

you forget and acidentally click on the message notif, flinching out of anxiety

your heart is racing

“why’d you leave? :(“

how on earth were you going to reply to that

“it was an accident,, i spilt tea on my keyboard :(“

or so you thought

“hmmm,,” he replies

“why hmmm?” you reply, hoping he doesn’t say what you think he’s gonna say

“ur lying to me >:(“

you groan

why does he have to be so intuitive

“AM NOT” you immediately front

“whatever u say :)” he teases

you angry react it, being too scared to say anything else

“anyways come back to the call now” he says quickly

“hmmm,,, no”

“whattt why? :(“ you can hear his whiny voice saying it

“im tiredddd”

“but :(“ he stops there and then starts typing

you can hear your heart pounding in your ears

it feels like he’s typing for hours before he finally sends it

you stop breathing at what you read

“i,,, miss you”

you don’t know how to feel

you can’t say anything or do anything

after just staring at the message for what must’ve been a minute he starts typing again

your brain screams at you to leave the chat but you can’t

or more.. you don’t want to

he keeps stopping and starting again

making your anxiety spike and your mind run rampant

when he finally sends it, it’s a whole paragraph but you read it all at 10x speed

all you process is the last sentence

“i really like you and if you would allow me to, i’d like to be in a romantic relationship with you - we can take it slow of course”

you didn’t know what to say, part of you is saying no because you’re so afraid to ruin the friendship

but most of you is saying yes

you don’t want to regret this like every other chance you missed in life because of fear

you can’t break his heart

and forever wonder what could’ve been

so you say yes

and you start having your own movie & gaming dates

eventually after a month of becoming more serious

you finally become official

you finally tell your friends

and all they have to say is ‘finally’

when you come out of lockdown and can finally see jacob and your friends in person

its even better than you could’ve ever imagined

all your worries instantly wash away

he’s everything you ever wanted

and so are you to him
