im finishing campaign 3 again (just passed 66 hiiiiii Acoralil) and I have been thinking non fucking stop about Callie and Cyra (sorrryyyyy hanna!!) I always have a soft spot for complicated sister relationships as a complicated sister-haver myself, but Callie and Cyra just like. I’m sick over them and all I wanna talk about is how they make me feel!!!
i have older sisters who I’ve always been expected to emulate and surpass, and then a little sister who is above that responsibility which fostered a sense of animosity between us. I should have taken better care of her and been kinder to her, but i also should have had more kindness and empathy given to me to encourage me to share that with her. I can never be too bad because then im evil, but i can never be better because then who is the evil one?
Cyra as the older sister always sees Calliope as the exception to their mothers icy fist and stoic nature, seeing affection that she’s never (and never will) received, meanwhile reveling in the fact that she’s ‘in’ on the family business and this gives her a closeness to Oliana that Callie doesn’t (and will never) have.
Meanwhile, Callie sees Cyra as the favorite because of the sense of responsibility their mother ‘gifted’ Cyra, the opportunity and the inclusion Cyra is given Callie has always seen as a boon and not a horrible curse- Ultimately, Callie thinks Oliana trusts Cyra more than her, when in reality Oliana trusts Callie to not only change Cyra’s still future but to change the world.
And Oliana. Do you ever forget that your mother is living on this earth for the first time too? And maybe, just maybe, she had better intentions than what you assumed as a young girl? That you haven’t lived the life she has lived, and you didn’t know that her freedom and will were stripped from her in young adulthood and motherhood has just been a game of catch up to try and sort out your own shit before you ruin your daughters? And then you do it anyways?
anyways something something Callie and Cyra have CPTSD and a combo of Borderline and Bipolar and Oliana is a textbook narcissist and they’re all inherently good natured and have good intentions 👍
