(Entirely unoriginal) drabble idea: Haru wakes up with cat ears and a tail. Makoto visits not expecting this and can't hold back the urge to scritch ears coz he loves kitties. Haru looks displeased but secretly enjoys it.
Title: The Urge to Scritch
Ship: MakoHaru
Genre: Fluff

A/N: Sorry for the long wait, it has been pretty hectic for me, and sorry if this is long or seems rushed. I know it was supposed to be a drabble, but I really liked this (unoriginal) drabble.
The chime of a familiar doorbell rang through the air as Makoto hoped Haru would answer the door this time. If he did, then it told Mako that he wasn’t in the bath and they could get started on studying. Of course, no one answered the door, and like always the door was unlocked which allowed Makoto to slip in.
He sighed as he knew he would have to get Haru out of the bath and wait for him to cook mackerel before they could start anything. But Makoto prepared himself as he walked to the bathroom door and asked, “Haru? Are you in there?”
Not waiting for a reply, Makoto opened the door and was horrified to not find Haru in there. The angel walked (more of jogging) up the stairs and opened the door to the dolphin’s room. He breathed a sigh of relieve when he saw there was a lump and walked over to get Haru ready.
“Haru, come on. We have to study for the exams next week.” Makoto told the lump before pulling the blanket off.
When he did, he gasped as he saw a dream come true. It was Haru, with ears and a tail! Two of Makoto’s things mixed together, oh he couldn’t resist to not touch!
He immediately tried to scratch Haru’s new ears, not even bothering to ask how this was possible or if it was okay. Before he could scratch the silky black ears, a hand smacked his and Makoto let out a yelp of pain.
Apparently, Haru got other cat features as he hissed at Makoto and said with venom, “Do not touch.”
“Eh! But they look so soft and they need to be scratched!” A large hand reached again to try and touch the ears but was smacked once again, this time by a black tail.
“Why are you not freaking out about this?”
“Because you’re a kitty! Why would I freak out? I love kitties!” The orca said way to joyfully. He was quite literally bouncing with joy as he resisted the urge to scratch the cute ears. They were so fluffy and it took all of Makoto’s strength to not pounce on Haru to get a scratch in.
This stunned Haru since Makoto is known to be weak hearted. Dogs barking scared him, but something that shouldn’t be possible is perfectly okay?
And while Haru was stunned, although it was a few seconds, Makoto gave into his urges. (He needs to learn self-control.) Once more the large hand went for the ears and this time was successful in touching them.
This surprised Haru and the result was him purring incredibly loud. He wasn’t going to lie, it felt really good and it made sense as to why cats loved it so much. Haru’s body felt like it turned to jello from the large hand getting the right spot.
As Haru’s purring grew louder, he muttered out a quick, “Don’t tell anyone about this,” before letting himself lean into the touch more. Makoto giggled as a response and gave a silent promise to not. He would not tell anyone about this amazing moment, and he learned an important life lesson.
Ikuya’s eyes burned as hot tears spilled down his face. His face scrunched in anger and nearly jerked away when a hand with a tender touch caressed his face. A thumb pressed down on the soft flesh to wipe a tear away, and though it didn’t help, it gave some comfort to the seaweed hair colored man.
His shaky hand was brought up and landed on top of the caring one. Sobs soon broke out from Ikuya and he leaned down to put his face between neck and shoulder of the one he loved. The one he took for granted. The one he had found a strange home in. Hiyori.
The supple touch was felt again as the hand landed on Ikuya’s head to show it was ok. Hiyori didn’t mind. He loved it really. Ever since he had seen the handsome Prince, Hiyori knew he was in love.
“H-Hiyori, please. I can still save you! Just let me kiss you, please.” Through choked out sobs Ikuya whispered to Hiyori those words, but it did nothing to change the merman’s mind.
For Hiyori knew that it wouldn’t work out, and it’s not like he didn’t want to be with Ikuya, but he was a prince who had a suitor that he looked so much in love with. Still, the merman wanted to get in the way of it, destroy it and let Ikuya be his, but there was a tiny voice that had grown louder telling him to let go.
The voice reminded him each day with the same words. “If you love Ikuya, then you should let him be happy with who he wants to be with. It hurts because it isn’t you, but be a good person for once and let him go.” To which he did.
Now Ikuya claimed to love him, and he to watched him from afar, but he didn’t know Hiyroi. He knew his looks, but what lied underneath that soft skin was something no one could love.
“Ikuya, if you love me, then let me go.” The words made the Prince’s heartache and he just couldn’t. He didn’t want to marry a suitor, he wanted to marry at his own choice.
Hiyori winced as the arms around him tightened and the face in the crook of his neck dug deeper. He felt the hot tears roll onto his body, and he let himself blend with Ikuya for a second. The feeling was a home for him, to be held by the one he loved made him feel fuzzy. It was almost too much to believe for the merman, but he was reminded that it was reality for his sealed fate was almost there.
That soft hand grabbed at Ikuya’s right shoulder and pushed with his weak might to get the prince to look at him. Said prince complied and showed his tear-stained face to the one below him.
Hiyori gave a soft smile and raised his hands towards Ikuya’s face and once there, wiped away the new tears. His weak voice pulled at the red-eyed man’s heart, as the voice said in a soft, weak tone, “Take me to the ocean. Send me home.”
Although he didn’t want to, and every muscle in his body tried to fight him, Ikuya’s heart told him to follow the merman’s wishes. And with that, Ikuya stood up before moving to the right side of Hiyori and crouching to put his hand under the slender back. His other hand moved to fit under the bend of famous mermaid tail, and although he felt dizzy and weak, he stood up with Hiyori in his arms.
Every step he took, it felt like the Earth was shaking and crumbling beneath him. The sand was hard to walk through and Ikuya was glad for it. It gave some more time to carry his love in his arms for the first and last time.
The fading merman enjoyed it too. He could hear a strong heartbeat that made him relax, which is something he needed and it coming from someone he loved was so much better. Hiyori felt at peace and could die happy knowing he was so close to his love.
It felt only like they had spent a few seconds together when Ikuya felt the water reach his waist. His body was shaking, more from his heart feeling like it was going to break rather than the frozen ocean. He let his eyes look at Hiyori’s, for what would be the final time and saved the image of the beautiful creature. Hiyori gave a weak smile to his prince and let his eyes shut, showing it was time for both to let go.
The sobs started again as Ikuya slowly let his arms free Hiyori into the ocean. He shut his eyes, not wanting to see the merman turn into foam and wash away with the ocean. Though he did that, he could still feel the weight in his arms disappear and replace with wetness.
Ikuya let himself fall to his knees, allowing the water to reach his neck and splash in his face. The new foam did as well, and the feeling of it made Ikuya let go of himself. He let himself fall into the icy, salty ocean for home is where the heart is, and Ikuya would die in his home.
A/N: This is for Maz who created the beautiful waifu edits of Rin and Rei.
It all started when Rin showed up one day to practice looking absolutely horrible. The supposed “Best Waifu” had messy pigtails and bad makeup. The makeup itself wasn’t bad, it was just bad on him. Blue eyeshadow, pink lipstick, and a burgundy blush did not go well for him as it made his face look like a splashed art canvas. He claimed he was Sousuke’s waifu, and though he was the only one at the time, he claimed to be the best and most beautiful.
The teal eyed boy just went with it. It is true that he is dating Rin, and what he learned is to play along instead of fight it. That took a lot of tears from Rin and no sex for Sousuke for him to realize, but now he is getting “Waifu Booty” which isn’t so bad. In fact, he likes it a lot more and maybe it is hard for him to look at Rin’s face since the makeup gets even worse, but it is still his Rin Rin and he loves him. But Sousuke is kind of embarrassed how his boyfriend acts, still, it is better than having Rin mad at him.
Nobody said anything about at Samezuka because nobody knew how to reply and it was their Captain they were talking about. Rin is known to be a hothead and very stern as Captain, so everyone just decided it was better to go along with it then try and fight it...or say something in general.
The feedback from Iwatobi was different was completely different.
Gou wasn’t exactly supportive and didn’t give a comment, but she did give a smile which was good enough in Waifu Rin’s book. The smile was probably an embarrassed one, but Waifu Rin wasn’t paying attention and most likely wouldn’t care either way. He was looking for everyone to know his so-called “beauty” and he would embarrass or make everyone uncomfortable if he had to.
Although Gou wasn’t supportive, Makoto was and told him simply, “You look beautiful, Rin.” Even though it was an obvious lie which was showed by his hesitant voice and demeanor. But the orca was too much of an angel sent down to bless everyone to say what he really thought. It would also end with a fit being thrown and no one wanted to hear that.
Haru simply said nothing but gave a look that just read no. Amazingly, Waifu Rin turned that into a compliment because “Haru is so shocked by my beauty he is at a loss for words!” Although that was the hugest reach, nobody was even going to touch that with a ten-foot pole.
Then all hell broke loose when Nagisa just had to open his loud mouth. With a grin that just read “I know what I’m doing”, the short boy smugly said, “You look so cute Rin-Rin! But, not as cute as Rei when he is in his waifu form.”
Everyone froze and stared at Nagisa. He still had that smug grin on his face and it only made Rin want to scream more. Which he did.
“WHAT? I’M THE BEST WAIFU! YOU CAN ASK SOUSUKE! I’M WAY BETTER THAN UGLY SPEEDO GLASSES!” Rin screamed and pointed at Sousuke, expecting him to agree with Rin. Instead, he just shook his head and stayed quiet, which was a bad move on his part.
“This isn’t Messages, Sousuke! You can’t leave me on read!” Rin screeched like old brakes.
To try and save everyone’s ears, even though they were already busted, Makoto used his soothing voice and told Rin to calm down.
The “Best Waifu’s” face turned as red as his eyes and was ready to start throwing things, but a voice he now hated spoke behind him.
“If I may ask, why are you calling me ugly when you look like that?” Rei, who had been in the locker rooms, said evilly and adjusted his glasses.
Rin whipped his head around and stared at Rei. Gou squealed and Makoto covered his eyes out of embarrassment. Instead of being in a swimsuit, all Rei wore was a dark purple apron with a pink butterfly on the chest pocket. His hair had buns on each side of his head, perfectly round and keeping all the hair in place. His front hair reached his neck, and he still wore his glasses but no makeup touched his face. In all honesty, Rei was drop dead gorgeous and if they didn’t all know Rin would throw a fit, they would have complimented Rei and crowned him best waifu.
If looks could cause damage, Rei would be a puddle on the floor from Rin’s furious eyes. Although this did seem like an overreaction, childish even, it was taken very seriously between the two. Their eyes and words did tell it all.
Being the angel he is, Makoto moved to stand in between them and softly said, “Let’s just calm down. There is no reason for you two to fight. You both are beautiful and amazing eh...waifus?” He choked a bit on the last bit. It was such a weird thing to say, and the situation was just weird in general.
Two teenage boys, fighting over who is the best waifu? It is just flat out strange. But said teenage boys (more one than the other) weren’t satisfied. One had to be better than the other. So what is the solution?
“A waifu war!” Nagisa yelled while Rei and Rin had a glaring battle. They stopped and stared at him, same as everyone else with a confused face. “Rin and Rei can become like waifu 2.0s and come back to see who is more beautiful!”
For the first time since they had arrived, Sousuke spoke. “You mean you want them to come back looking different or?”
“Exactly! They will become better waifu’s and fight for the title “Best Waifu”!” He threw his hands in the air and was just enjoying this far too much. Nagisa enjoying it in the first place was too much. This was not something that needed to become a thing, but of course, it had to and was going to happen, much to a lot of the others dismay.
Rin’s face was once again pale (aside from the horrible makeup still splattered on it) and with a smile, he agreed. Of course, the only reason he is agreeing is that of his school of thought. “I’m too beautiful and amazing to lose.”
Adjusting his glasses Rei spoke. “I agree to take part in this as well. It won’t take long for me to be ready. My beauty is natural and I don’t need cosmetics to make myself look somewhat good.” The last part was aimed at Rin which was obvious since he threw a smirk and an evil eye the shark’s way.
A growl came from Rin’s mouth as he stepped forward to try and grab Rei’s dace, but was stopped by a short, blonde haired boy.
“Save it for the war you two! Now come on Rei, let’s get you ready!” Nagisa grabbed Rei’s, running into the locker room to get changed to leave.
“Hmph! Come on Sousuke!” Two-toned arms wrapped around one burly one and dragged the taller man behind him. Muttering things about “Sousuke needing to help him” and other things.
While watching the two pairs leave, Haru looked at Makoto and said, “We didn’t even start practice.”
Prompt: “One time an orgasm hits Rin super hard and he goes so over sensitive and twitchy that he accidentally kicks Sousuke off the bed. Cue Sousuke on the floor, still with an erection, and Rin on the bed, tears in his eyes and beet red in the face with embarrassment but laughing like crazy, and still squirming and clenching his thighs together in aftershocks. :D”

Haru wished he hadn’t taken off his jacket the moment the sliding doors closed behind Mako and him. The store made his skin grow goosebumps and shivers run over his whole body. He kept it in and didn’t let it out, he couldn’t because Makoto would worry and he hated making Makoto worry.
Beside him, Makoto stood tall while walking next to him. With that light smile on his face, that made Haru warm like when he ate mackerel. But of course he would, he had a jacket on since the hazel haired boy decided not to take his off, unlike Haru.
But Haru put it aside and decided to look around the store for drinks and snacks for the club to have. Coach Sasabe was generous enough to give them some money to make up for the tough training. Which is well deserved and reminds everyone of why he's called “Gorou the Demon”.
They walked through the aisles trying to find what they needed as this was a foreign store to them. But the longer they walked, the more the freezing store kept stabbing and crisping Haru’s clothes. His clothes gave in to the air and went from crisping to full-on burning his skin. That was it for Haru’s body and demanded some heat anyway possible.
Delicate hands reached up to decent biceps and rubbed roughly to get some warmth. Even his mouth reacted on impulse and made tiny chatter sounds from his teeth hitting each other. Unfortunately, as much as Haru tried to hide it, Makoto noticed and was quick to help.
“Haru-chan, are you cold?”, Makoto asked the question with an obvious answer.
With a bite, Haru responded, “Yes, it’s too cold in here and drop the chan.”
That damn smile on Makoto's face grew a bit more, and he looked forward as he asked a question that made butterflies explode in Haru’s stomach.
“Oh, well do you want my jacket? I’m not cold, so you can wear it.”
The response was Haru turning his head downwards as his face burned more than the air did to his skin. All he could stamper out a, “N-No, I don’t need it. I’m fine,” but it was pointless. Makoto was slipping off his jacket to expose the muscular arms and back to any onlookers eyes. He turned the open side away from him for the shivering boy to slip in.
Embarrassed already and blushing like a drunk, Haru silently turned his back towards Makoto and put his hands at his collarbone, ready to hold the swim team jacket. With a chuckle, Makoto gently laid it on Haru's back and let go when he saw timid hands grab the jacket. The blue-eyed male pulled it tightly to make sure it wouldn’t slip and fall which he didn't want to do. What made it so much worse was how the jacket warmed him, both on the outside and the feeling inside.
“Thanks…” Haru muttered and still kept his tomato face towards the floor. Having pale skin was such a pain...But luckily for Haru, they had found the snacks and drinks right when Makoto started to take off his jacket.
The green eyes looked curiously as he grabbed a few things since everyone told him what they wanted. After having that covered, and grabbed something for himself, his eyes turned towards Haru who’s face was still red but was peeking up to take a look at the options.
“Found something yet, Haru-Chan?”
Haru spared a quick look at Makoto before looking back at the options once more. It was unimaginable to make eye contact with a guy who gave you his jacket, so he gave a shake of his head with eyes glued to the floor. He wasn’t hungry, not enough to try and snack on something, but it may or might not have to do that he wanted to get out of the store as quickly as possible. The quicker they were out, the quicker the jacket was returned, the quicker Haru’s blush faded away. Simple.
“Are you sure?” Makoto asked to make sure. Haru responded with a nod and that was it.
The store wasn’t cold anymore and was now in fact boiling but...Haru didn’t want to take it off yet. He pulled it tighter as they reached the cashier who had seen them walk into the store and proceeded to give Haru a long look. Blue eyes once more looked towards the floor and the owner of them tried to console the raging blush. It grew more and went from a pure to deep red when it hit him they now had to go outside where the team was waiting. Oh, this was going to be fun.
Makoto gave the money to the clerk, grabbed the bag, and also the money. Not giving Haru a chance to do anything, which he couldn't really do but still! He should have given a chance and let Haru try because it is embarrassing. Hopefully not as much as going outside.
But there was no time left to think about what to do, they were already approaching the door and now Haru had to face the music. The team was waiting at the doors so he couldn't take it off to act like he was just holding it. He had no choice but to be teased and asked questions.
Makoto never lost his smile and it seemed to get a bit brighter when the doors opened. Everyone went silent when they stepped outside, but the looks they shared spoke a thousand words. A few giggles from Nagisa and Gou, with Rei shushing them, and Haru didn’t give the jacket back to run to his own. He waited till Makoto gave everyone their things and gave Coach Sasabe his money before cautiously giving back the jacket. He calmly walked over and grabbed his from atop his bag, slipped it on and zipped it properly.
But it was strange, Makoto and Haru’s jackets were the same but the jacket just...didn't feel as warm.
If Rei was going to be honest with himself, he wasn’t the best romantic person in the world. Far from it, as a matter of fact, and Valentine’s day proved that. A day for meant to show how much you love or value someone was probably Rei’s biggest enemy.
It’s not like he didn’t try because of course he did, it’s just...he didn’t seem to get it right. Rei was a man of science, math, and all things logic which you can’t really apply to love, though he tried. His “calculations” to get Nagisa the best gift weren’t coming from the heart, which is what Rin had tried to get through Rei’s skull a day before the day of love.
Rei didn’t seem to understand that logic since it is a perfect gift and why wouldn’t you love that. Perfect equals beautiful which is one of the greatest things on Earth. To Rei at least.
“Rei, for the hundredth time, just because it is perfect to you, doesn’t mean it is perfect to Nagisa. Ever heard of overthinking things? That is what you are doing. It’s the thought that matters, not the gift and you don’t put your heart into these gifts. Just logic,” Rin had muttered over the phone, growing tired of having to repeat himself. Even though it seemed so clear, Rei still didn’t understand it. In his frustration, Rin told him to make something or some chocolates for Nagisa since he adored food, before hanging up without a goodbye. He had his own things to do and trying to explain something simple was not on the list.
Wanting to get this right, Rei decided to go with the food idea since Rin and Sousuke always seemed to have successful Valentine’s days. Luckily for him, Nagisa was heading out that day to help out Haru. Something about Haru needing help with a fish tank for some newly adopted fish, but that was not the focus right now for Rei.
Instead, looking online for tips was, and something caught purple eye’s. Something that was both food and sorta remained him of Nagisa in a way. With that, Rei grabbed his keys and wallet to drive to the store for supplies. No doubt this wasn’t going to be easy, but he wanted to get this Valentine’s Day right.
“But what if he doesn’t like it? He gets me these amazing things, and I want to get him something amazing this year too.” Nagisa pouted as he finished his rant towards Haru. Which is whose house he was currently at.
Haru and Makoto, his boyfriend, had decided to see each other on the day of Valentine’s Day to set each other’s gifts. Also to visit family, which is more for Makoto but it doesn’t bother Haru. He needed the time to set up a fish tank, which he only had a day to do before Makoto would see. The tank was for some newly bought fish Haru had got to see those green eyes sparkle. That’s also hoe Nagisa got called over since he was the only person willing to help and wasn’t busy with their own plans.
All Haru could do was really sigh. He wasn’t a good advice person but felt he should help someone to return the favor. The issue is, he doesn’t know how to help since he only knows Makoto, who is clearly different from Rei.
Thoughts swam in Haru’ brain before he finally gave an answer to the upset blonde. “He is going to love it. It is coming from you, isn’t it? Why would he not like it?” That didn’t seem to help since it made Nagisa groan again and continue from earlier.
“But what if he doesn’t! He gets me amazing gifts no matter what the holiday is and I feel like I’m lacking.”
“Nagisa, have you looked at the gift you got him. I can assure you, he will love it. You are just exaggerating what is going to happen. Now get back over and help me.” Haru silently hoped this was the correct thing to say. He tried to imagine what Makoto would say and this really came to mind. He also didn’t want to not finish in time because someone was having doubts about themselves.
With a huff, Nagisa did just that. He wasn’t assured but tried to tell himself he was over exaggerating. He even told himself the cliche saying, “It’s the thought that matters.”
The day of love came and at first, it almost seemed like any other day. Aside from the “Happy Valentine’s Day”, that came from both males, it went on like a lazy day (which didn’t come often) for them. They ate breakfast before sitting down to just enjoy movies together. Later on, Rei did get up to make dinner which is where both couples were going to reveal their gifts.
The dinner was delicious, presentable, and in a big helping to show the specialty of the night. It was exciting to say the least. Sitting and eating with the one you care about, knowing you both have gifts hiding somewhere. Neither could wait to show the other their gift, hoping they would like it since both happened to be daring this Valentine’s Day.
After they had finished, and at least cleared the table for some space, Rei let out a cough. “May I show you mine first?” He asked with a shaky voice. The fear of it not being good enough for Nagisa stayed in his mind, and laughed at him when Nagisa replied with a little too loud sure.
Instead of pulling out a box or was expected of Rei, he went to the refrigerator and pulled a pan out. Slowly, trying to keep the pan flat as to not make the contents on it fall, Rei walked to the table and set the pan down.
Nagisa was almost screaming in excitement as this was new and actually did when what was under the tinfoil was revealed.
There on the pan, sat two penguin figures hugging with a heart in front of them. They had soft chocolate insides and were easy to take apart. Which Rei did to let Nagisa taste. He took a bite out of one of the penguins and nearly moaned at how good it was. Although it had been in the refrigerator, the chocolate broke apart smoothly and was one of the most amazing things to be tasted among man.
“Do you like it?”
After swallowing, Nagisa looked at Rei with the most dilated eyes and yelled, “I loved it! Try a piece! It is too amazing!” Rei declined since he wasn’t one for sweets but felt joy as his gift was loved.
Nagisa decided against taking another bite and instead put it down to grab the black box next to him. It was pretty small but had a blood red bow wrapped around it perfectly.
The blonde haired male refused to make eye contact as he handed the box to Rei. This was surprising since he was used to the shorter boy nearly bouncing off the walls in excitement to give his gift. Then again, he reacted differently when presenting his gift as well.
“I hope you like it.” Nagisa’s voice was a bit shaky and read uncertainty with some regret in it. What he could be regretting was unclear.
Rei had always loved Nagisa’s gift since they were usually cute things instead of romantic. That was him though, being cute since he was not to good at romance either. That is what really made them good for each other you could say. But whatever it was, Rei was sure he was going to like it, even if Nagisa had his doubts.
Slowly, Rei grabbed one end of the bow with his right hand and tugged. The sound of silk was heard as the bow unraveled, and the same hand lifted up the cover of the box. What was inside made Rei gasp and his eyes sparkle. A crystal butterfly lay on white crêpe paper. The wings were black but met all in the middle with the body to make a bright purple. It looked like a fire was inside as the purple resembled flames but still. All corners of the wings had dots but not normal ones, diamond ones. They sparkled as the light shined on them, and the whole crystal butterfly just read beauty.
“It’s so...beautiful!” Rei gasped out as air suddenly filled his lungs.
A bright smile showed on Nagisa’s face as he asked, “So, you like it?”
“Of course I do! It is so beautiful!” Rei kissed Nagisa, which surprised them both since it was a sloppy kiss and Rei was not a fan of those.
But he didn’t care, for Rei finally knew what Rin meant by putting love into the gift. No logic was in Nagisa’s, just his love for his butterfly named Rei. Although neither of them knew, both had learned something important.
Love isn’t logical, and it truly is the thought that counts.
A/N: I want to apologize for how long your request took and if it is bad. This was the first hurt/comfort fic I have ever done, so hopefully, you enjoy it.
Haru’s head burned as he yanked his blanket over him to hide from the world. The light through the blanket showed his vision blurring as his chest burned with his heart pounding faster and faster. Pale eyelids squeezed shut as Haru tried to calm down. He was just so crushed and the more he tried to relax, the more the ache pullulated. It felt like a dark gong was hitting inside his chest which made him scrunch into a ball. His eyes being shut didn’t help the subtle burning his eyes were feeling, and Haru used all of his power to try to make tears not form and spill. Every feeling in his body came to a halt when he felt the bed dip beside him. His body tensed and his eyelids loosened to let his body spread out. The dolphin had no idea what Sousuke, Haru’s (supposed) boyfriend, was going to say but he was just hoping to get an explanation. Instead, he smelled a welcoming thing that any other day would make him happy, mackerel. The smell made blue eyes appeared once more as he turned his head to the right to see the burly man sitting with a plate of mackerel. Haru squinted his eyes to give a glare but it had no effect as Sousuke wasn’t looking at him. Teal eyes looked off avoiding any eye contact and instead let his left-hand scratch the nape of his neck. Teal eyes met blue for a brief moment before a plate full of grilled mackerel was thrust in Haru’s face. With the fall of his hand, Sousuke spoke. “Here.” The glare Haru had hardened as he sat up which proved how bad this situation really was. Truth be told, they usually would cuddle and forget about their arguments. It wasn’t healthy, but neither of them were big on emotions so they just went with it. Once in a blue moon, they did talk about something that happened, but never a full conversation or really talking about it. It was brisk and quick, which is a fault in their relationship and this was bound to happen sooner or later. “I don’t want mackerel.” Sousuke put on a shocked face since Haru has never turned down mackerel, especially when it comes from him. “Well, then what do you want?”“What I want is for you to talk to me, Sousuke. I’m tired of not actually talking about our feelings and pushing them to the side. We are a couple and couples are supposed to work things out. How are we supposed to do that? Because cuddling and mackerel doesn’t make it disappear.” All through Haru’s vent his voice shook with each passing word, this really wasn’t like him but Haru had enough of this “worry about it another day” stuff. If they wanted a true relationship, then they needed to communicate. Which was tough for both of the boys to do, but it was about time this happened. Sousuke exchanged the plate of fish to his left from his right to set it on the floor. Haru watched him closely before his face was on a hard chest in an instant. Big arms squeezed him closely and the dolphin felt anger rise in him. He didn’t want to cuddle and forget about it, but it was starting to look like that was what is going to happen. “I’m sorry. I know we need to talk things through and I want to. For you, Haru. I wouldn’t be able to stand us ending over not being able to talk to each other.” At the end of his last sentence, Sousuke placed a tender kiss on Haru’s forehead. The words made Haru feel like he was melting into Sousuke’s arms from just being so warm. There wasn’t a painful burn anymore, just a warm feeling that read love. “Thanks, Yamazaki. I still want to eat the mackerel.” Haru muttered from his face being in Sousuke’s neck. That earned him a warm chuckle and it felt nice to hear it. It told Haru everything was going to be okay. It also told him Sousuke was not that much of a blockhead that most people (including Haru) would make him out to be. He still was one when it came to love but not that much.
A lot of people assume that Sousuke and Haru aren’t affectionate towards each other. Most people assume it is a hate relationship, that one is forcing the other, that abuse is involved, or it just a simply bad. This is nowhere near the truth.
While they may not be couples like Rin and Makoto to flirt or always touching each other in some way, they do have their own ways. They may share kisses, rubs, simple cuddles, and they like it that way.
Maybe they aren’t the most affectionate, but the little things they do is enough for each other. Sousuke being the big spoon and wrapping his arm around Haru in a protective hold makes Haru feel like he is in the water. So free and protected, surrounded by the thing he loves, and he loves it. It gives him that warm feeling you get when someone compliments you, and when he feels a soft kiss on the nape of his neck, he relaxes and forgets everything.
Haru pushing himself and making pork cutlet for Sousuke, knowing it is his favorite, and eating it with him is just so perfect. Haru doing something because he knows it will make the burly man happy is enough for the whale shark to know Haru cares. It may not be much or written off as a simple act of love, but it is seen as so much more to teal eyes.
Those mornings when Sousuke wakes up early and runs a bath for Haru just makes the dolphin’s day. The thought of one of the laziest people Haru knows doing that just for him relaxes him even more in the tub. He knows when he tells people that is something he loves about the man, they are so confused on how a minor thing can make a person love another, but they just don’t get it. They wouldn’t get it.
Giving a shoulder a massage in most relationships are seen as such petty things and no one could think that to some couples, this is filled with so much more in it. Yet Sousuke warms when he feels those two nimble hands holding so much love to touch his shoulder. The way they tenderly massage, wanting to get the pain out, to not let the owner suffer anymore. To let the owner be free like them and be able to achieve their dreams, was something Sousuke loved and cherished. Although both knew nothing would happen, the thought and care lingered in every movement told them it didn’t need to for them to be happy. They would get it in their own ways, and those ways were enough for them.
The couple may do little things to show love, but there are bigger ones as well. Just maybe not to them. When Sousuke said he would follow Haru and help him achieve his dreams, they didn’t see this as so big. To others, this was one of the biggest things in a relationship. But to them, it was just another little thing in their relationship, that would be filled with love, but not as much as the others. The little things added up and crossed over this one big thing to make it small. The years of care and emotions showed between each other would always rise up against both of their dreams, because they were each other’s loves. A bond sacred and unbreakable even to whatever hard or big thing was coming their way.
They would overcome it, and the little things would do that for them.
