Enjoy the ultimate comfort food with this rich recipe for baked macaroni and cheese. It's great for any event because it's creamy, cheesy, and has a crunchy breadcrumb crust on top.
Ingredients: 16 oz elbow macaroni. 1/2 cup unsalted butter. 1/2 cup all-purpose flour. 4 cups whole milk. 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese. 2 cups shredded Gruyere cheese. 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese. 1/2 teaspoon salt. 1/2 teaspoon black pepper. 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg. 1 cup Panko breadcrumbs. 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley.
Instructions: Set the oven to 350F 175C and heat it up. Prepare a 9x13-inch baking dish by greasing it. Follow the directions on the box to cook the macaroni until it is al dente. Remove the water and set it aside. Melt the butter over medium-low heat in a large saucepan. After adding the flour, stir the food around constantly for two minutes. Slowly whisk in the milk until the mixture is smooth. Keep stirring the mixture for about 5 minutes, or until it gets thicker. Take the pot off the heat and add the cheddar, Gruyere, and Parmesan cheeses. Mix them in until they melt and are smooth. Add nutmeg, salt, and pepper to the cheese sauce to taste. Put the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce and mix it in well. Put the macaroni and cheese mix into the baking dish that has been prepared. Put the Panko breadcrumbs and chopped parsley in a small bowl and mix them together. Spread the breadcrumb mixture out over the mac and cheese in a thin layer. It should be baked in a hot oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. Let it cool down for a while before you serve it. Have fun!
