Flour covers her hands as she kneads her dough, black locks of hair hanging in her face as she works. She pauses for a moment to wipe sweat from her brow, leaving a streak of flour across her forehead and she wipes her hands on her apron, looking up at the castles kitchen in full swing. The knights had returned from their journey and tonight, the king had declared a huge feast in their honor.

A clatter draws her attention to the entry of the kitchen, and she is surprised to see a Knight entering. They wore a polite smile as they set down the baskets they had been helping carry. Their eyes land on the Baker and for a moment, it’s like time freezes. The Knights expression takes on that of someone who had just seen flowers for the first time. The Baker flushes under their gaze and bashfully drops her eyes. When she looks up again, the Knight had gone.
