Zest of 2 oranges. 150g 5.3 oz dark chocolate chips or chunks. For the orange glaze:. 100g 1 cup powdered sugar. 2-3 tbsp freshly squeezed orange juice. 1 tsp orange zest.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 180C 350F and grease and line a loaf tin with parchment paper. In a medium-sized bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. In a separate large mixing bowl, whisk together the sugar and eggs until pale and creamy. Add the vegetable oil, buttermilk, vanilla extract, and orange zest to the sugar and egg mixture, and whisk until well combined. Gradually fold in the dry ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. Fold in the dark chocolate chips or chunks. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf tin and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean with a few moist crumbs. While the cake is baking, prepare the orange glaze. In a small bowl, mix together the powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest until you have a smooth glaze. Once the cake is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool in the tin for 10 minutes. Then, transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Drizzle the orange glaze over the cooled loaf cake and let it set for a few minutes before slicing and serving. Enjoy your delicious Chocolate Orange Loaf Cake!
