꒰ CHAPTER 1 ꒱ : MAKE IT WORK
RING! RING! RING!
The blaring—and rather annoying—sound of your alarm coming from your phone jolts you right out of your peaceful sleep. You groan, rubbing your eyes drowsily as you tap the screen of the device.
7:30.
Huh. That’s odd. Why do you have a timer set for this early? Then you get a text.
1 NEW NOTIFICATION!
💗💗 minaaa !! — girl where tf r u?? class is starting in like 35 mins, i thought you said you were gonna be here early 😭😭
Oh no.
Oh no.
It’s your first day at UA.
And you’re gonna be late.
You practically JUMP out of bed, your covers and pillows flying as you rush through your usually structured morning routine. You brush your teeth, throw on your uniform, style your hair, throw toast into your toaster while still buttoning your blazed—it was a mess. You’re hopping into your black Mary Jane’s as you exit your hotel room, toast in hand as you run. This wasn’t how your far-fetched fantasies told you this would play out—but hey, you’re here now.
Climbing into your Mercedes, you back out of the parking lot and SLAM your foot onto the gas. 10 minutes left. The ETA says UA is about 7 minutes away. You’ll make it. Barely. Speeding through lanes, sharp turns, and way too many glimpses of nearby police cars later, you find yourself in the parking lot of UA—the dream you’ve been working towards since you were 12. This is it. You sigh in relief, hoisting your messenger bag across your body and adjusting your hair one last time before hopping out of your Mercedes, running towards the university with your schedule in hand.
Most people your age got into UA with quirks. Athletics. Hell, even recommendations. But you? You got in with intellect. Sure, UA was a university known for its aspiring future heroes and people that had previously attended it’s high school, but UA was at the top of the charts when it came to academics, as well. That’s probably why it was your dream since you knew what pre-algebra was—and since people told you a quirkless female couldn’t be a pro hero. Which, for the record, you still intensely disagree with. Anyway, after many sleepless nights, rejected parties, and even more empty mugs of coffee, you’re finally here. And it feels good as you make your way through the hallway, maneuvering through chatty peers and open locker doors. You’d stop to admire the shimmering white floor and god-carved walls if you weren’t late. You eventually stop at a closed door.
“Well, here it goes…” you mutter, hands hovering over the handle hesitantly before opening the door. You’re met with a room that was most likely 2x the size of any house you’ve ever lived in growing up, with a projector the size of your old apartment and shimmering clear windows lining the walls. Everyone present in the room looks at you, which makes your heart drop to your ass as you glance at the clock. 1 minute early. Your gaze flickers back to the crowd of people, before it lands on a familiar pink messy-haired girl smiling brightly at you. You sigh in relief. Mina.
You two met online, and just so happened to be going to UA.
Lucky you.
You walk up the staircase (yes, staircase) to the empty seat next to Mina, sliding down into your seat with a relieved sigh. She slaps you on the arm lightly, huffing at you. “You made it by the skin of your teeth! You never wake up late for important shit like this, what’s the deal?!” She whisper-yelled at you, confused. You just scratch the back of your neck sheepishly, looking down at your desk. “I must’ve slept through my first alarm,” you acknowledge, shrugging.
“Good morning, class! Now, as you all know, we have a new transfer joining us starting today. [name], if you wouldn’t mind?” The professor states, adjusting his glasses and shooting you an encouraging smile as he gestures to the space beside him. You take a deep breath, pushing your nervousness down as you walk back down the steps. When you’re finally beside the professor, you give the class a polite yet genuine smile.
“Hey. My name is [name], it’s nice to meet you all. Why is it so quiet in here? It’s freaking me out,” you remark, causing the whole class to laugh, easing the tension. “..But, besides that, I’m looking forward to my time here,” you state finally, your eyes meeting both blood-red ones and forest-green ones. You look away after a moment, a bit confused on why those eyes stood out so much to you before returning to your seat.
The rest of the day goes by relatively smoothly. You introduce yourself, throw in a tiny joke, the class laughs, and you fit right in, especially since Mina acts as your personal tour guide for most of the day.
“This is the football field! The bleachers are to die for, and the football games!? Who wouldn’t want to see sweaty, hot guys in jerseys?” With a teasing wink.
“This is the cafeteria. They serve the most heavenly corn bread I’ve ever tasted in my entire existence—p.s, I’ll probably steal yours.” With a proud thumbs up.
“Oh, and this is the bathroom! Don’t go in it after 9:00, it’s so clean that people come in here to fuck,” With a cheeky smile, causing you to furrow your eyebrows in both confusion and genuine notion.
But what truly caught your attention was what she said during lunch—
“Aw, look at Katsuki and Izuku! They’re the cutest couple ever,” Mina cooed, staring at the screen of her phone.
“Who?” You question with a raised brow, raising your fork to your lips as you take a bite of your yellow rice.
“..Oh, just my friends I’ve known since high school! I have a feeling you’ll meet them soon,” she shrugs nonchalantly, waving a dismissive hand as you just look at her in confusion.
Following Mina’s personal tour, sure, you still felt a bit out of place in the prestigious hallways, but you’ll adjust…
…Soon enough.
After the school day comes to a close, you flip through a pamphlet your first professor gave you that contains your dorm number—dorm room 245. You walk into the dorm section of the university, climbing up various flights of stairs before finally making it to the 200’s. Making it to your designated dorm door, you sigh in relief, ready to just lay down and crash for the day as you open the door.
And then you saw them.
Blood-red eyes and forest-green ones.
Again.
But this time, you don’t just see the eyes. You see the full picture. The guy with blood-red eyes is blonde with spiky hair, with an almost aggressively quiet demeanor, who’s sitting on the couch with his rather muscular arms crossed against his chest. The guy with forest-green eyes has green hair that’s more on the fluffy side, with a more open and friendly demeanor, who’s sitting beside the blonde on the couch, his build more lean yet muscular as well. Despite their differences, both of them look up at you in confusion.
What the fuck?
The professor has deliberately said that you had a dorm to yourself, which was the main reason why you were so happy in the first place! You’d be able to only worry about your own laundry, sleep on your own schedule, keep the dorm clean, even walk around your dorm naked!—
“What the hell do you want? You lost or somethin’?” A rough, controlled and relatively snappy voice snaps you out of your own thoughts. It came from the blonde, while the green-haired guy sends him a glare that screams: “Don’t be like that.” Your eyebrows furrow as you step into the dorm, closing the door behind you as you cross your arms. “I don’t mean to be rude, but this is supposed to be my dorm. I was ensured that I had a dorm to myself,” you state simply, trying to be polite despite the blonde’s attitude.
“..Oh, right! You’re the new student, [name], is it? My name is Izuku, it’s nice to meet you! As for the dorm problem—I’m sorry, but we’ve been in this one since the start of the school year! Maybe it was a mix-up?” The green-haired guy, now namely Izuku suggests, gracing you with a sheepish yet kind smile. You sigh softly, your arms dropping to your sides. “Whatever it is—you’re not staying here. I don’t care if you’re new or not, I’m not sharing this shit with a random person,” the blonde snarls rudely, causing Izuku to shoot him another glare. “Kacchan, be nice! Sorry about him, this is Katsuki. I promise he’s not always like this. Anyway, you’re free to stay here! There’s an extra bedroom in the hallway to the right. You can figure out the dorm problem in the morning, unless you want me to go ask the principal about it now?” Izuku offers, shooting you a warm smile.
Wait.
Izuku. Katsuki. Mina’s friends.
So this is the couple she was talking about.
Dragging yourself out of your thoughts, you visibly relax at his kindness, shaking your head politely. “No, it’s fine! Thank you so much. I’ll be out of your hair soon enough,” you state, ignoring the insanely intense gaze of Katsuki as you make your way down the nearby hallway, opening the first door to your right.
The room is empty besides a bed, a nightstand, a TV and a dresser, but it still has an inviting vibe to it. You had all of your boxes full of items in the main office, but you’re not walking all the way there tonight, so you might as well just get comfortable.
With a slightly irritated sigh, you plop down onto the oddly comforting mattress, inhaling deeply. You’ll get this whole thing worked out in the morning. You’ll look back on this and laugh at how disappointed you were. You’ll have free will and a dorm all to yourself. For now, just get up. Take a shower. Eat. Then get some well deserved sleep, you set up your schedule internally, the tension in your body easing as you exhale. Right.
The feeling of warm water cascading down your back calms your nerves in remarkable ways, droplets of water flowing into your hair as you sigh contently.
Ah. Nothing like a nice, quiet, warm shower to calm you d—
KNOCK KNOCK KNOCK!
What the hell is up with the interruptions today!?
Irritated once more, you step out of the shower, grabbing a spare white towel and wrapping it around your body as you open the door.
“What is it.” You question dryly—only to be met with Katsuki—with no shirt on. His physique is on full display, a carving of pure discipline, abs, and contoured muscles. Tiny scars litter his chest and lower torso, the markings slipping into his black basketball shorts, barely hidden. Despite his earlier attitude, you can’t deny that he’s quite a sight.
What? Get a hold of yourself. He’s Izuku’s boyfriend, and you don’t even know him, you reprimand yourself internally, snapping yourself out of it.
“..I’m sorry. Or whatever. For earlier. When I was being an ass. I was just agitated ‘cause you were just standing there like a damn deer in headlights,” he mutters, sounding almost begrudging yet genuine as he crosses his arms over his chest, his gaze falling to your towel-clad body before shooting back up to your face—not before lingering for a moment or two, though. You don’t notice.
Huh. Didn’t take him for an apology type, you acknowledge internally, before smiling softly. “…Thanks. I’m sorry too, I may have came off as weird. Did Izuku tell you to apologize?” You question, raising an eyebrow as he quietly nods with a sheepish grunt. Figures. “Plus, I need my towel out of there.” He admits, with a cocky, gleaming smile that makes your heart beat a bit faster for some reason.
“Well, I appreciate it nonetheless, I guess. Here,” you shrug, handing him the black towel slung onto the towel rack as he gives you a lazy wave before closing the door.
Huh.
After slipping into a comfortable yet oversized white shirt and pink basketball shorts, you head to the kitchen, scanning the fridge before hearing a voice beside you:
“Me and Kacchan made spaghetti and meatballs if you want any.”
You turn to your left, your gaze landing on a damp-haired Izuku, seemingly also fresh out of the shower as he smiles and gestures to pots on the stove. Your stomach rumbles silently at the sight.
“Oh, thanks.”
You and Izuku eat the heated-up spaghetti side by side, enjoying the silence before you speak up.
“Kacchan. Is that your nickname for Katsuki?,” you bring up, giving him a teasing yet curious glance as his ears burn slightly. Despite his visible embarrassment, he nods. “Sorry! It’s a habit. I’ve called him that since we were kids, so it’s normal for me,” he laughs, rubbing the back of his neck. You smile softly. Cute.
Stop. He’s dating Katsuki, you reprimand yourself internally (again), wondering why the hell you’re even having these thoughts as you look at Izuku.
“It’s fine. Just wondering. This is really good, by the way.” You mention, gesturing to the plate of spaghetti in front of you as Izuku’s eyes brighten immediately.
“Really!? I was trying a recipe I found with him, but I didn’t think it was going to actually go well! Kacchan’s usually the one cooking—oh! You should taste my mom’s recipe! It’s the BEST thing I’ve ever eaten!” He begins to ramble, yet, admittedly, you don’t really mind. “Maybe you should make it for me some time. I’d be honored to try it.” You suggest, which Izuku’s smile widens at. “Of course! I’ll make it one of these days and save you a serving!” He plans out-loud, his words flowing throughout the expanse of the kitchen for about an hour with ease.
Eventually, Katsuki comes out of the room, sitting next to you without a word as he smiles—just barely—at Izuku’s rambling. This was surprisingly normal. It felt…nice. Like it was always meant to happen.
Hm.
RING! RING! RING!
Your obnoxious alarm wakes you up instantly, your chest heaving as you sigh. Seriously, you need to change it. You tap the screen of your phone.
5:00.
Much better than yesterday. You stretch your arms over your head, ready to start the morning off on a better note.
This time around, since you’re not late today, you get to glide through your morning routine at your own pace.
You brush your teeth, floss, make your bed, do some light stretches, do your skincare, style your hair, and then you change into your college uniform. “They must get up super early..” you mutter subconsciously, before making your way to the fridge. You open the fridge door—to see a packed breakfast—scrambled eggs, fluffy golden-brown pancakes, and bacon. With a sticky note plastered onto it. Naturally, your curiosity guides you to pick it up, reading it.
“Good morning, [name]! Me and Kacchan made breakfast (he did most of the work…😅), and we decided to save you some before we left for morning training! Have a good day, hope we see you again, even if it’s not in our dorm! — Izuku and Kacchan Katsuki”.
Aw, that’s sweet, you smile softly, taking the breakfast along with the note as you walk out of the door.
Despite knowing the two of them for only one day, you might just miss them.
“What do you mean you can’t change my dorm?”
“You see, Ms. [last name], all of the other dorms present here at UA are accounted for, since we have limited space. I understand that you were assured that you’d have a dorm to yourself, but that simply isn’t the case. Therefore, you’ll be remaining in your current dorm with Mr. Midoriya and Mr. Bakugo,” the principal explains calmly, pulling out a layout of all of the dorms at UA. And, as he explained, all of them are filled out with names already.
You sigh in acceptance, still chewing on a piece of your bacon as you kiss your fantasized loner dorm life goodbye.
“Sooo..basically you and my two friends had a threesome?” Mina remarks, blinking at you as your head SHOOTS towards her to give her the most bewildered look, your cheeks growing warm as you huff.
“That’s NOT what I said!” You shoot back, embarrassed as Mina laughs, completely unaffected by your reaction.
“Well, have fun, girl! Something tells me you’re in for a long ride,” she winks, the bell ringing as she grabs her things, beginning to walk towards the classroom door to exit.
You huff, rolling your eyes as you hoist your own bag over your shoulder, jogging after her. “I’ll handle whatever happens. I always do,” you state simply, shrugging her remark off like it was no big deal.
You had no idea what you were in for.
𓍼 author’s note! — i kept it relatively short and sweet for a somewhat smooth introduction, so think of this as almost a prologue! I’m here to deliver <33
