Damphirs are born from the union of moroi with humans or other Damphirs. Although the retain part of the moroi speed and senses, the human blood in them weakens them in the battlefield.

Still, they're the only barrier protecting moroi from extinction, a race of hybrids raised as soldier and trained as death reapers.

In gipsy and western europe culture, are born from the union of a male vampire and a human, also called glog or sâbotnik.
