Anime that has made me cry, alphabetical order I suppose:
Angel Beats Ending feels.
Anohana (TV & Movie) Ending feels. Hit me deep. I cried each time for like, 20 minutes straight. The opening song/animation made me wanna cry. THE WHOLE SHOW MADE ME WANNA CRY! T_T
Baldr Force EXE Resolution Ending song got to me. It’s a weird Alice in Wonderland type of thing with the animation. But the song is just sad. Not sure why I cried, but I did. Show itself is quite violent.
Grave of the Fireflies Tearjerker of a movie.
Gurren Lagann Manly tears that pierce the heavens!
Haibane Renmei Like Serial Experiments Lain, this show makes you think. I can’t really explain anything without spoiling, but needless to say, tears were shed.
Madoka Magica Yeah. Just yeah.
Saikano (She, The Ultimate Weapon) One of those tragic, depressing love stories.
Serial Experiments Lain I actually cried during one of my yearly re-watches of this show. This show makes you think, and I tend to wanna watch it when I am super depressed. I think the complex themes strike a cord with me somewhere, somehow. Then there is the animated footage from the PS1 game where they show a graphic suicide.
Steins;Gate Feels. Feels that we have to see again and again, cause you know, time travel.
Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 I thought something was up, and sure enough, FEELS.
Welcome to the NHK So many relatable feels. I can’t recommend this show enough.
Honorable mentions: shorts and movies of Makoto Shinkai, and a series called Now and Then, Here and There. All were rather depressing to me.
