This an article about a professional ballerina who started ballet in college! For those of you asking me "Is it too late for me to start dancing?" the answer is NO! Never too late!
What is/are some of your fave ballet slippers? I've been using Sansha pros forever but I'm interested in trying something different. I have pretty narrow feet (my pointe shoes are a single x) and my arches are mediocre at best.
Sorry for the late reply! I remembered I used to wear grishko, but not which ones!I wore grishko ultimate split soles! They have the option to choose a width. I don’t have extremely narrow feet, but most slippers were too roomy for me, so it was perfect. And I also have a less than mediocre arch! And with these shoes it has an elastic sewn in to the arch to hug it, and make it look like I had a decent arch! They only come in canvas from what I remember, but it’s super durable. It lasted me dancing 3-5 ballet classes a day for three years.

Tip #1: Motivation
- Consider your situation Look where you stand right now. If you are just beginning with dancing you obviously won’t start with perfect pointe routines. If you came just back from a break, expect to be slowed down a bit. If you’re not naturally flexible, don’t compare your accomplishments with crazy flexible dancers. If you don’t look at yourself individually, you tend to get disappointed quickly.
-Remember what it felt like to get sth Everytime you struggle to motivate yourself, remember your last accomplishment and what it felt like. Amazing, right? And you want to get this again, right?
-Set realisic goals Always look for something new you want to get. Stay realistic but don’t make it too easy. Be specific! Don’t just say: I want to get bettee oversplits, say: I want to get oversplits with this two books under my foot. And set your time!! Don’t just say: I want my bad leg splits, say: I want my bad leg splits until the end of summer or til competition season.
-Be proud Celebrate every progress! Take pictures to watch yourself get better amd better
Other random help: -watch other dancers on youtube I personally always watch rythmic gymnastics while streching. These girls are so insane and I always get the urge to push harder
-listen to motivational music while working out or streching Here is my motivation playlist: Roar - Katy perry Popular - Eric Saade Hall of fame - the script Superheroes - the script Radioactive - imagine dragons Empire State of Mind - alicia keys Stronger - kelly clarkson Change is gonna come - olly murs Black widow - iggy azalea Fame - naturi naughton What are you waiting for - nickleback Survivor - Destiny’s Child Whistle - katy tiz Burning up - jessie j Firework - katy perry What do you use? It can be as cheesy or old as it can be, as long as it keeps your motivation high!
- Hang motivational pictures and quotes on your wall in your room
- work together with friends
So what do you think? Any questions? Ask me about all your problems please! What do you want to see next? Did I help you? Dance through your life! Katie
I swear to god my feet are the ugliest things in the universe. I can't stand seeing them en pointe in most angles. Does anyone have any advice for my toe knuckles popping out over the top of the box (not knuckling... they're just out of the box)
First day......night....
Hello fellow tumblrs, tumblees???
Being extremely new to this, don't expect my first few posts to be of any interest at all.
Ha ha, but on a lighter note, being the beginning of this blog, I wanted to state that I don't want this to just be a blog of inside jokes in ballet, or me just talking about myself (although that might happen), or posting a bunch of pictures that are just, well, ballet pictures. My mission with this is to help people with their life in dance. Ballet specifically will be more emphasized, but as ballet is the base to many styles, it will hopefully be useful.
Now, before I actually do anything to start my mission, I want to hear from some people what they want. I mean, obviously, I can't expect anyone to follow a blog that just started with three posts on it, but really, I can only be helpful if you tell me what you want. So.... yeah.
Now, this awkwardly leads me to the end of this post. Please let me know what you would like to see/hear/anythingish.....
Okay, signing off.
