The Giant’s Ring, nr Ballynahatty, Belfast, Northern Ireland
The Giant's Ring is passage grave henge monument at Ballynahatty on the outskirts of Belfast. The henge is surrounded by large earthwork circle, roughly 200m across. The monument is believed to have been erected around 2700BC by the same Neolithic culture that built Newgrange.
The image set includes late Victorian etchings of the site, an 1855 excavation plan, and reconstruction drawings based on archaeological evidence. The 250 outer radial post holes at the monument have been dated to about 3000BC.
