The Champion of Braneld led a long life before his current position. He is just under middle-aged for a dragonborn, which puts him at about 85 years old. He grew up in the city of Lava’s Rest, and fought in the Great War between the dragonborn and the orcs. As a child and young adult, he learned of the corruption of his people. The rich enacted laws to keep themselves rich at the expense of all else, discrimination and hate ruled, and no one in power moved a claw to stop it. He joined the army, and used his talents to rise through the ranks. Balmorn knew a high ranking officer could seek political office eventually, and from there he could actually help people. The dragonborn government knew of his ambitions, he wasn’t quiet about them, and ultimately kept him from advancing too far. They would find ways for him to be on the front lines of battles, or to lead dangerous missions. Finally the orc armies shattered the dragonborn forces. Balmorn survived, and found his home scattered. The rulers had left, and the dragonborn people scattered. Balmorn took one of the Dragon Blades from the castle, none who remained even tried to stop him, and left Lava’s Rest forever. He spent the intervening years traveling, fighting tyranny where he found it. He earned his keep by slaying monsters, solving local disputes, and even tending a few fields. He joined the Warders for a few years, but needed more. Eventually he met Dathod, and with their combined military experience and Balmorn’s diplomatic mind, they formed the kingdom of Aramount.
