Simple lines are the common denominator shared by many of Jim’s antiques, from a Sheraton highboy to a Chippendale secretary. Other elements, judiciously placed - bandboxes, quilts, coverlets, artwork - soften a potentially hard-edged look. Because they share the same birthday, Jim has a special interest in President Ulysses S. Grant, a connection that has inspired a collection of Grant mementos, such as the portrait hanging here.

Best Songs of 2014

  Oh, the power of “writing it down.” Before making my EOTY list, I wouldn’t have thought this year to be an exceptional year in music. But now that it’s completed, I’m all excited about making music myself in 2015. Here are my top 9 favorite songs, in no order!
