CHAPTER SIX
“Are you sure you want to be a psychologist? You’d be a great cook,”
The entire kitchen burst into laughter after your comment directed at Yoongi, who is helping Jin plate breakfast for everyone. The eight plates of delicious food line up on the counter as they get filled up gourmet style.
You’d like to say you helped, but all you did was cut the fruits for the salad.
“I love Sundays!” Taehyung exclaims with a mouthful of strawberries in his mouth, savoring the sweetness of the fresh fruits that you and Yoongi picked up from the market a few hours ago.
Jimin and Namjoon sit next to each other, sipping quietly on their coffee as they observe the rest of you finish up today’s breakfast.
It seems like everyone is in a good mood, even Jimin has exchanged a few smiles with you.
However, there is one person missing in the kitchen. The person you haven’t seen since you kissed almost a week ago.
And almost like he heard your thoughts, Jungkook finally walks in with a smile on his face, his hair wet from his morning shower.
“Good morning family! Sorry I’m late,” He greets everyone before copying Taehyung’s action and plopping a mouthful of fruit filling his cheeks, humming pleased at the flavor.
“Oh, those are good,” Jungkook’s face distorts into an angry face as he nods in approval, his unique way of showing how much he likes the food.
“Right?, y/n picked them at the market this morning.” Taehyung compliments you with a smile as he steals another strawberry from the bowl and puts the whole thing in his mouth at once.
“Sure Tae, discredit me like I didn’t go with her,” Yoongi jokes as he approaches you with two plates, leaving one in front of you and another on the empty chair next to you.
“You took her out?” Jungkook questions as he looks at you then at Yoongi. A frown decorating his face as his eyes land on Jin. “I thought she wasn’t allowed out.”
His tone is deeper and colder, the mood changing suddenly as everyone takes a seat around the kitchen's extensive island counter. Yoongi sits next to you, leaving you between him and Taehyung who is already half-way done with his breakfast.
“And what did you expect, Kook? Have her locked in here until her mission?” Jin says as he takes a spoonful to his mouth, “She’s not an animal you know, she’s not your prisoner anymore.”
You frown at the word used. “A pri-?”
“She was never a prisoner” Jungkook replies quickly. “I just…” He looks around the room locking eyes with Jin again before sighing,“Nevermind.”
He sighs again as his eyes glance down to his plate. He takes a seat before grabbing his fork, eating in complete silence. The rest of the table slowly goes back to its chatty status, everyone ignoring Jungkook’s sudden mood change.
Everyone but you.
Why is he so upset about you going out?
Ever since the night you kissed, Jungkook, as well as most of the guys, have been out and about doing all sorts of missions for the circle, which you hated since they were your main source of entertainment in the house.
Yoongi has been the one staying behind the most, and you were thankful to have made a strong bond with him in the last week. You’ve spent so much time together Jin trusted him with you enough to let you go to the market together.
You’ve spent most days studying. And if you were not indulging in a psychology textbook, you were swaying blades and knives at the gym.And when your brains and your bodies were fed up with training, you would sneak onto the rooftop and talk about everything and nothing.
You learned that Yoongi grew up with Jin because his parents were killed when he was just a baby. He has no real memory of his biological parents, nor knows much about them. He didn’t want to dig up a past that couldn’t be changed, and instead called Jin’s parents his own since they have been taking care of him just like they took care of Jin.
“You are going to love them when you meet them.” Yoongi smiles widely at the memory of his non-biological parents as he stares at the sky, his profile being reflected by the moonlight.
“You think I’ll meet them?” You ask genuinely. The thought of their parents never crossed your mind, let alone getting to meet them.
“Of course, you are one of us now. You’re family.” He turns to look at you, his eyes scanning you before offering you a kind smile. “I’m sure they’ll love you.” He nods, his comforting words warming your heart.
“Thank you,” You say in a quiet voice, both of you staring at each other for a few seconds before his eyes turn back to the sky, both of you sitting in silence as you watch the starry night, comfortable with each other’s company.
The only other member you were able to speak with outside of training is Namjoon, who kept coming back home at random times of the day back out when everyone was too busy to notice.
Not you though. You noticed every single time.
You didn’t know much about him, but his eyes always looked pained and tired. You were curious about his upcoming, about his role and especially about where he kept disappearing to.
“Are you excited for class today?” Taehyung snaps you out of your thoughts as he picks up the empty plate in front of you and places it on top of the pile he’s carrying. “There’s thirteen days till the mission.” He adds, placing the plates on the sink and putting on his gloves to start cleaning them.
“Uhh, not to be offensive, but why should I be excited?” You ask, looking around at the other members who are doing their own thing as they help clean up, Jimin and Hoseok are already walking out of the kitchen after wishing everyone a good day ahead.
“You finally get to work with Jungkook today!” Taehyung exclaims excitedly, “He’s known to be the best member of The Circle, after Jimin, in my opinion. But he’s the golden child of The circle, girls would kill to have some training time with him back in headquarters.” He wiggles his eyebrows as he turns his head around to look at Jungkook, who is sipping his coffee in silence.
A light shade of pink spreads all over his face as he looks to his friend in despair. “Taehyung, stop this madness.” he says quickly, getting shy at the sudden spotlight.
“He’s very popular amongst the ladies, you know?” Tae continues to tease him, and you feel like your heart is sinking at the idea. Did you kiss the fuckboy of the group?
“I’ve heard he’s great at helping improve combat and stamina,” Jin adds in a teasing tone, almost like he sang it out before everyone but Yoongi laughed at the comment. “But I’m sure he’ll be a great teacher to you y/n.” He concludes before slurping the last of his coffee. “Now, everyone but Taehyung and Yoongi, out of my office.”
Namjoon, Jungkook and you exchange a set of looks before standing up and walking out, confused at the sudden hurry Jin seemed to kick everyone out of the kitchen.
The three of you stand around, unsure of what to do next. You don’t have training till the next few hours, so you stand there in silence hoping one of the guys decides what to do for you.
“Well,” Namjoon clasps his hands together, startling both you and Jungkook. “I’m going to get ready for my Sunday walk.” And before either of you can question him, he’s on his way to his bedroom, closing his door behind him.
And then there were two left.
“Hey,” he breaks the silence after a few minutes, and you stare at him in surprise.
“Hey?” You reply, your salutation sounding more like a question, but none of you take initiative to continue the conversation so the room returns to an awkward silence as you both stand there.
You can’t lie and say you are not annoyed about the situation with Jungkook.
You haven’t spoken in almost a week. He disappeared for days after kissing you and you’re sure he’s been avoiding you when he was home. And to make matters worse, you learnt about his infamous reputation just a few minutes ago. You could picture him being anything but a fuckboy, but it seems you were just another girl he fooled.
And the more you think about it, the more your blood boils in anger.
“Can we-” Jungkook begins, but you are quick to cut him off.
“I have some studying to do before our training, I’ll see you later.” And with quick steps, you reach the hallway towards your room, looking back every few steps to make sure he wasn’t following you.
Jungkook stands in confusion, not sure why you are suddenly avoiding him after days of not being able to see each other. He wonders if you regret kissing him.
He knows for sure he doesn’t.
〰🌫 ⋆.˚ 𓆝⋆.˚ 𓇼.°•🌫 𓆉 ⋆.˚𓇼 ⋆.˚𓆟〰
It’s quiet in the halls after most of the guys are out for work, leaving the three kitchen rejects in the house: Namjoon, Jungkook, and you.
You can hear Jungkook singing every now and then in his room, and you haven’t heard the main door in a while, which means Namjoon hasn’t left for his Sunday walk.
You are aware Jungkook is trying to talk with you, most certainly about the kiss. But you are not ready to have that conversation, and something tells you he’s going to wait till you are alone with him in the house, so you are doing the only reasonable thing to do to avoid him.
You’re following Namjoon out.
You know this is potentially dangerous since you have no permission to go out, and you have no idea where Namjoon is heading. Hoewer, you are determined to follow him out and find out where he is always going and why he is so secretive about it.
You could be walking into a situation that could end up really bad, but something tells you it’s not dangerous or sketchy. At the end of the day, why would Namjoon be meeting with someone so often if it wasn’t safe?
You are all wrapped up in warm clothes with your ear against your bedroom door in hopes of hearing him walk out to then follow him out, the only thing that could ruin your plans is the guy singing to Abba a few doors down.
Suddenly, there’s a set of footsteps in the hallway, but you recognise from the distance that the steps are not coming from Namjoon’s room but from closer to your side of the hall. To be precise, from Jungkook’s room.
You take a step away from the door when you hear the steps growing louder, his shadow peeking under your door as he stands in front of it in complete silence.
The beating of your heart increases, his shadow never moving from its spot as you hear him mumble too quietly for you to understand what he is saying.
Growing tired of the situation, you are about to open the door and confront him when you hear a door shutting, followed by heavier steps that you immediately recognise as Namjoon’s.
“Hey, is the laundry done?” He asks Jungkook, his voice muffled by the distance.
“Uhh, yeah. I was just distributing the sheets. I’ll get yours now.” Jungkook replies in a hurry, his shadow disappearing from the floor as Namjoon walks into the living room.
You are unsure about Jungkook’s location, unable to hear him as you focus on Namjoon who has just picked up some keys.
The main door clicks just seconds after, announcing that your target has officially left the house.
The door to your room opens quietly, a mute sigh escaping your lips as you look around, making sure Jungkook is nowhere around.
Once the coast is clear, you make your way to the living room with quick steps, using the skills Namjoon has taught you during training to sneak out of the house unattended, and unsupervised.
If you were to be caught, you know you could be in big trouble.
Once outside, you take a deep inhale. The cold air fills your nostrils as the wind embraces you into a beautiful fall evening.
From the corner of your eye you can spot Namjoon walking deeper into the woods, your feet following behind while making sure to keep a reasonable distance between you both.
When Yoongi and you went to the market, Yoongi drove out from the backside of the house, so this route is completely new to you, but you enjoy the walk in the woods as you follow him to his secret destination.
You notice Namjoon looks relaxed and very into his thoughts, which makes you feel less stressed about you potentially walking into some Circle business that could uncover you and the guys.
You walk for what feels like an hour, finally arriving at some small town by the woods.
You notice how he begins to walk faster, becoming more aware of his surroundings as he sneaks into the town and makes his way to an infrastructure that seems to have burned down, the burned patches visible in the standing remains of the building.
The area seems abandoned, the big piece of land covered in ashes and pieces of burned things scattered all over the floor Namjoon walks in comfortably, reaching an area with a bench that seems to be intact, almost like it was placed there after the fire.
You try to approach him slowly, the places to hide lowering as you approach the big open area he was sitting in, his back to you as you stare from a pile of burned junk.
He sits there in silence as he looks around aimlessly, a big deep sigh escaping his lips before he talks.
“You really thought I wouldn't notice you, huh?” He chuckles seriously. “Well don't just stand there watching me, come sit.”
Well, fuck.
You take small steps towards him, your fingers fidgeting against each other as you approach him nervously. He seems awfully relaxed, which for some reason, scares you more.
You finally make it to the bench, standing next to Namjoon as he has his eyes closed, taking in deep breaths before opening his eyes, not a single hint of anger in them.
“Am I in trouble?” you ask quietly, scared that you have fucked up big time for following him all the way to here.
He looks at you for a few seconds before shaking his head slowly, “Actually,” he starts, “I’m glad you followed me.”
You blink repeatedly at his words, not sure on why he seemed so okay with you escaping the house and lurking on him.
“It gets quite lonely here,” he explains as he pats the bench next to him, inviting you once again to take a seat. “It’s nice to have some company” he smiles at you faintly, your heart breaking at his soft words as you finally sit on the bench.
You look around to try to figure out what kind of place this was, and why Namjoon was visiting it, but it’s burned to the ground and you can’t imagine what kind of place this could’ve been.
“Where… are we?” You ask unsure, scared to trigger him or make a question that could upset him.
He takes a big sigh before turning to look at you, his pained eyes watering a little as he smiles at you, “This used to be a school. My school, to be precise.” He speaks softly. “I built it from the ground up and had all sorts of students,” he giggles to himself at the memories. “But, they burned it down.”
He begins to pick on the skin of his fingers, griefing this place once again as he relives the memories, “Once they discovered my parents worked for The Circle, I gained a lot of enemies who eventually decided to burn the school down, hoping I would go with it too, but to our disgrace, I'm still here.” He chuckles bitterly, a tear escaping his eyes and falling into his lap.
Your heart hurts seeing him so vulnerable, so heartbroken, so you put your arms around him and offer him some comfort which he takes gladly, his head resting on your shoulder as he wipes his tears away with his jacket.
“I’m sorry for your loss,” You whisper to him as your hand reaches for his hair, patting him softly as he quietly cries on your shoulder.
“No, I’m sorry for yours,” He replies, which makes you frown as you don’t understand what he is apologizing for.
“Nam, I’m not sure I understand why-...”
“The day you arrived, you seemed so… hopeless.” He begins. “I felt sorry for you, I still kinda do, because I’m sure that just like most of us, you had your dreams taken away from you.”
Your lips press into a thin line, the knot on your throat growing stronger as his words sink in.
“No one wants to be a part of a gang,” he laughs between his tears, “But somehow we all ended here, in the same place.” You nod. You are not sure where all of this came from, but you suddenly feel a tear stream down your face.
When the fuck did you start crying?
“Ever since the day we found you I couldn't stop thinking about how many dreams of you we have crashed, and I’m deeply sorry about that, I really am.” he shifts away from your embrace and stares at you with sad eyes, both of you now crying as he caresses your cheek, wiping the tears off with his thumb.
You shake your head slowly before you both laugh, realizing the situation you were in was kind of ridiculous and random, but wholesome nonetheless. “You’re not the ones who ruined my dreams Namjoon, I had no reason to live before you guys. You gave me a new reason to.” You smile between your tears and you reach for a hug. His big arms wrapping around you as he sighs in relief, your words comforting him from the guilt he’s been feeling.
“Well, that does make me feel a little better,” he laughs as he breaks the hug, taking a deep breath in before shaking the sadness away like a dog, which makes you laugh. “ You should’ve seen this place in all of its glory, it was great.” He changes the subject smoothly, and you are glad he did because you had many questions about this school.
You smile with teary eyes before you both laugh again, a secret pact to keep this intimate moment between you. “Tell me all about it Joon.” He smiles before slapping both of his hands against his thighs, getting himself comfortable before telling you all about his beloved school and the memories it holds.

CHAPTER 7: PROMISE
One, Two, Down, Hit!
“Again,” Junkook’s voice is stern and serious with undertones of anger.
A deep exhale escapes your lips right before finishing the latest sequence Jungkook has created for today’s stamina training. With only 10 minutes left, he made sure to squeeze in as much physical exhaustion before time was up, so you can’t say you were surprised when he threw the boxing gloves at you with spite.
“Great, first class and you’re late. Where the hell were you?” He walks towards the stereo stand, his eyes glued to his phone as he scrolls, looking for the perfect playlist.
“I was with Namjoon…” You reply in the same tone, your legs bending weirdly as you struggle to put on the second boxing glove.
He stops scrolling, frozen in place before turning around in a sharp move.
“He wasn’t home,” His tone is annoyed and lower than usual, his frown directed at you with spite. He’s clearly in a bad mood.
You stare at him in silence, unsure if you should come clean to him and say you followed Namjoon out without permission or not. “Yeah,” it's all you say before breaking eye contact to tighten the glove around your wrist.
You can feel his eyes on you, a million questions hanging from his tongue but he decides to keep his mouth shut. You arrived home late which made you late for class, and Jungkook hated impunctuality.
“Gloves off,” he demands in a rough voice. “Aim at me.”
You stare at him perplexed. He cannot be serious right now.
“What?” He huffs, flipping his wet hair off his sweaty forehead. “There won’t be boxing gloves if you have to fight someone in real life” He mocks you as you loosen the gloves from your wrists, but you are taken off guard when he pulls on the gloves, snatching them out of you.
“You’re too slow, let’s go. Hit me” He bends his knees and gets in a defensive position, a smirk plastered on his face while he waits in anticipation, “Or at least try to hit me.”
His attitude has been annoying you all day. The stupid comments he's been making to provoke you or agitate you have you on your last nerve.
You roll your eyes before throwing the first punch, which he easily avoids. You can tell he’s getting off from the situation, but you are tired and your body is giving up on you.
You feel like you could faint any second now.
Out of nowhere, you see Jungkook get closer, and in a swift and quick move, he turns you around. His arm is around your neck, choking you lightly as his other hand pins your arms together so you can’t fight back from him.
You already feel faint thanks to his harsh training, and the pressure he is applying in your neck is enough for your body to enter a fight or fly mode, your heart racing as you begin to squirm in his arms.
He tightens his grip, “C’mon y/n, you can do this.” He keeps swaying side to side to mimic a real life situation, but you are all over the place as panic starts to kick in. You are sure he doesn’t notice he’s hurting you, so you let out a weak scream asking him to let go of you.
“Jungkook, you are hurting me,” You speak in a desperate mumble, lacking the air to stabilize your tone.
You start coughing, your lungs beginning to fail you. Your body suddenly goes soft in his arms which he notices immediately, letting go of you before turning you back around, his hands now gripping the sides of your upper arms tightly.
“Y/n? Are you okay?” He asks in a concerned tone, his panicked eyes inspecting your face as you take controlled breaths with your eyes closed. “y/n? Please talk to me, did I hurt you?”
He shakes you softly hoping to get a response from you, but your eyes snap open as the fatigue suddenly turns into pure rage and anger.
“Stop manhandling me around, I’m not a fucking dog!” You speak loudly, pushing Jungkook away from you with full force as you exclaim, frustrated at his harsh attitude.
He fails to find his balance, falling into the grown butt first as he stares at you with surprised eyes. His mouth’s agape, blinking repeatedly as he did not expect any of this from you.
You’re not going to lie, you are surprised at your reaction too. You’ve never really been that type of person, but his change of moods the past two days have tested your patience to its limit, and him getting physical with you was the last straw. Even if he was just doing his job at teaching you defense techniques, enough is enough.
The only sound in the room is the sound of your breathing, both Jungkook’s and your chest violently raising as you try to recover from what just happened.
“I’m -” You are about to apologize to him before he chuckles to himself, his tongue poking into his cheek as he impulses himself from the floor in a swift move that looks like it's part of a hip-hop choreography.
He’s now standing in front of you, his curious eyes scanning you attentively before he laughs again as he takes a step forward, his arms crossed in front of his chest.
“Why the fuck are you laughing?” You say, the anger still present in your voice as you mimic his pose, crossing your arms in front of your chest.
He shakes his head slowly with a smirk on his lips, refusing to answer your question with words. Instead, he takes another step closer to you, his arms skimming against yours.
“I didn’t laugh,” He replies sarcastically, the smirk lurking from behind his serious expression.
You arch an eyebrow as you scan him up and down, unable to be discreet as your eyes check him out shamelessly.
“I almost fainted Jungkook, I get it that you are bitter but that’s no reason to take it out on me” You complain in a frown.
The smirk on his face faints rapidly at your words, his eyes lingering on yours before he sighs, uncrossing his arms before licking his lips, biting the lower one nervously.
“I’m sorry,” He whispers, his hands reaching to your upper arm where he caresses the skin that had reddened thanks to him. “I guess I pushed you too hard,” He hesitates. “I’m just…worried for you.”
You can feel a tingle in your stomach as his words sink in, his eyes scanning you attentively as he keeps biting his lip and playing with his piercing. “The mission is in almost two weeks and I’m…scared.” He confesses. Your guard is shut down at his words, uncrossing your arms slowly as you stare at him with soft eyes. “What if you are not ready and get hurt?” He whispers, his hand sliding down from your arm to your hand. “It’s my fault you are in this mess to begin with.”
“Tae and Jimin will look out for me, I’ll be fine.” You reassure him in a whisper, intertwining your fingers with his as you look down to your locked hands. “I can take care of myself, too.” You huff, a faint smile on your lips before looking back up. Your smile grows bigger when you notice he is smiling too.
“Promise me you’ll come back,” He whispers, his free hand reaching for your face where he caresses your cheek softly, “You are gonna stay alive out there, right?”
You are mesmerized at his sudden softness, his big eyes glued to yours as your gaze dances between his eyes and his slightly swollen lips.
“I promise,” you whisper after a few seconds, both of you frozen in place as Jungkook’s phone goes off, the loud ringtone playing through the speakers, interrupting the intimate moment between you too.
He lets out a deep sigh before letting go of your hand, turning his back to you as he makes his way to the phone which he answers quietly. He looks back at you with a smile, a shy look on his face as he speaks to what seemed to be Jin on the phone.
“Taehyung?” He asks on the phone, making you frown in curiosity.
And just as his name was said, the gym doors open abruptly. Taehyung’s tall figure walks into the room with a big smile on his face. He scans the room and smiles bigger when his eyes land on you “Let’s go,” He speaks to you, tilting his head towards the exit as he turns around and walks back out.
You are not sure what is going on, but it seems like it's good news.
〰🌫 ⋆.˚ 𓆝⋆.˚ 𓇼.°•🌫 𓆉 ⋆.˚𓇼 ⋆.˚𓆟〰
The feeling of his soft lips against your jaw makes you gasp.
“Jungkook,” You moan quietly against his ear. He takes his time leaving a small peck on your skin, making his way to your neck where he sucks lightly before he pulls away from you with a victorious smile.
“Just trying to warm you up a little bit” He whispers as your hands pull his perfectly brushed back hair, your back arching involuntarily thanks to Jungkook’s kisses.
Jungkook deposits one more kiss on your jawline before pulling away. He takes a few steps away from the bed, his eyes glued to yours as a boxy smile forms on his lips
“You did not just call me Jungkook,” He laughs, but you are quick to notice his laugh sounds different, slightly deeper than usual. You open your eyes and notice Taehyung standing next to the couch, his hand covering his mouth as he laughs quietly “Did you just have a wet dream about Jungkook?!” He asks incredulously.
Panic arises when you realize you fell asleep on Taehyung’s couch, and had a very vivid wet dream of his co-worker while he worked next to you.
“No,” You are quick to deny it, straightening your position on the couch before wiping the drool from the corner of your lips. “I’m having nightmares from that training session, I can’t feel my arms.” You huff in pain as you massage your upper arm, both of you laughing at your half-lie.
Taehyung sighs with sympathy, knowing the feeling all too well. “Yeah that makes sense, Jk can be a tough guy sometimes.” He shrugs before turning around to face his desk, the blue navy dress that lays next to his sewing machine making you gasp even before he holds it up for you to see it.
“Shut up!” You jump out of the couch to admire the beautiful long, navy dress Taehyung just made for you in less than an hour, surprised not only by the dress itself but by Taehyung's insane skills. “How-”
“There’s still some things I need to adjust, but it should be good enough to try it now.” He inspects the dress as he holds it next to him, “and look, it has pockets!” He turns the split part around to show you different storage pockets for all sorts of weapons, but mostly knives.
You laugh at his excitement, carefully taking the dress and walking towards the bathroom to try it out.
You knew the guys were talented, but you never imagined having a professional designer to be a part of a gang.
〰🌫 ⋆.˚ 𓆝⋆.˚ 𓇼.°•🌫 𓆉 ⋆.˚𓇼 ⋆.˚𓆟〰
Knock, knock.
The door to your room opens lightly, Jin’s face lurking curiously between the gap. “Can I?”
You nod back before you welcome Jin into your room, surprised to see that he wasn't alone. Hoseok and Yoongi walk in right behind him, both greeting you with a faint smile.
“How are you feeling?” Jin speaks, the nerves building up inside you as the situation starts to sink in.
“Nervous,” You reply in an unstable tone, your eyes glued to the suitcases that were packed by the door. You don’t know who packed them, or what is inside, but you trust it was Taehyung and that he packed some nice clothes for you.
“It’s unfortunate that we won't be here to send you off to your first mission since we have to leave tonight for our own,” Hoseok comments in a frown, “But I’m sure the guys will take care of you properly.” He sends you a comforting smile before moving to the back of the room, and that’s when you notice both Jungkook and Jimin staring from the door frame.
“She’ll be fine with us,” Jimin says in a cheeky tone, making everyone turn around at the sound of his voice. “We’ll bring her back in one piece.” He turns to look at Jungkook, “That’s a promise.”
You linger your eyes on the two young ones as they exchange some mumbling between them before Hoseok joins them, but Jin suddenly flips out a folder, snapping your attention back to him.
“Here’s all the information we went through before, but just in case you need to revise anything, it's all here.” He hands you the black folder with a smile on his face, “and, here’s something else for you” He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a phone, “We added you into the group chat already, but if you need anything feel free to call any of us, okay?” He hands you the phone, a serious tone to his voice to which you nod in agreement.
“Thank you,” You reply as you tap on the phone’s screen, the new phone lighting up to a selfie of Jin and Namjoon as a lock screen which makes you giggle. “Stay safe out there.” You tell them, and the room grows quiet for a few seconds, all eyes focused on you as your words sink in.
“Always,” Yoongi breaks the silence, “You stay safe out there too y/n. We’ll see you soon.” Yoongi flashes a smile, all eyes now focus on Yoongi, whose eyes are glued to you.
You nod awkwardly before Jin clears his throat, saying his goodbyes again before they start walking out of your room. Hoseok, Yoongi and Jin disappear from your eyesight before you hear another knock to what seems to be Taehyung’s room, but your attention lingers on the two guys standing by your door.
“Don’t sleep too late tonight, we are going over the mission together tomorrow morning. Seven a.m in the basement.” Jimin speaks coldly before walking out, not even waiting for your reply as he makes his way to his room.
Your eyes are now focused on Jungkook, who is resting his shoulder next to the door frame, his arms crossed in front of his chest as he watches Jimin walk away. Once the door closes, he turns his head to you, getting shy at the fact that you were already looking at him.
“Hey,” He says quietly, which you reply to in the same tone.
“What’s up?” The awkwardness filling the room, the memories of today flashing in your mind at the speed of light. Were you still angry? Or was that all done and gone?
“Just wanted to check on you,” His tone is fragile and soft. “How’s your arm?”
You look down to your arm that is now fine, the red markings disappearing a few hours after the training. “All good,” You cover the area with your hand shyly, your eyes drifting back up to him, a look of relief on his face as he smiles at you.
“Cool,” His dorky smile makes you giggle, which he mimics before standing up straight. “Uh… sleep night. I mean, Sleep well.” His cheeks are now a shade of scarlet red. “Good night.” He nods one last time before making his way down the hallway towards his room, closing your door on his way out.
“Good night,” You whisper before snuggling into bed, tiredness knocking you out almost immediately thanks to the day you had, and the day that awaits you.

CHAPTER 8: MISSION DAY
You did it.
The cold sweat on your forehead and the pounding of your heart make you ecstatic, walking proud and taking quick steps because after weeks of planning and training, you have successfully retrieved the case.
You walk next to Taehyung who carries the case, satisfactory smiles exchanged between you two as you move quickly and quietly. You are both aware there’s not enough time before the guards figure out that whatever was in that case had been stolen.
The never ending hallway finally approaches its end, and when you’re about to pass the upper salon entrance, you hear the click-clacks of chelsea boots right behind you.
Jimin.
Your heart sinks for a second, and your pulse accelerates when you realize that he isn’t supposed to join you until you are out of the building.
“They’re right behind us,” He speaks in an agitated huff just as the sound of gunshots is heard from the other side of the extended hall. “Fuck.”
That’s all the confirmation you needed for your flight or fight to activate. And after exchanging a few looks with Taehyung, the three of you begin running for your lives.
Jimin is quick to reply to the shotguns, swiftly pulling his own gun out and firing warning shots at their feet. The three men seem to slow down thanks to Jimin, but by moving less, you notice their aim stabilizes, the bullets barely missing you as you try to avoid the rain of bullets aimed at your heads.
Taehyung calls your name in a whisper, his movements too quick for you to be able to process what was happening. You can feel the rush of adrenaline coming back for the third time tonight as Taehyung hands you the case, both of your arms wrapping around it as you run towards the exit corner towards the stairs.
The gunshots are everywhere and the sound of Jimin’s and now Taehyung’s guns ring in your ears as they walk with their backs to you, aiming at the now two men who keep aiming uncoordinated shots to your heads.
At least they got one, you think to yourself.
You went over the emergency escape multiple times during your training, and once you take the corner into the stairs, as expected, you spot the duct that’s been unscrewed a few days prior thanks to Taehyung’s ‘first day as a janitor’.
You can feel your heart beating on your head as you place the case inside the duct and run towards the exit as commanded. You crouch by the pillar to hide from the guards as you proceed to shoot at their feet, the change of level protecting you from the gunshots that are being directed at the guys.
Jimin is the first to run up as he makes his way into the duct, Taehyung protecting his back for a few seconds before he makes a run to you, launching himself to the floor and taking position next to you.
You both stay to make sure Jimin gets into the duct safely, but unfortunately, the guards have catched up with Jimin, whose feet are still dangling out.
Taehyung is quick to take one more guy down as he failed to grab Jimin by the ankles, but the last one standing is faster than all of you, aiming at Jimin’s foot as the sound of his gun echoes in the hollow duct.
Jimin’s excruciating screams torture your ears as you watch the scene unfold infront of you, your gun firing quicker at the man when you hear Jimin banging on the walls of the duct in an attempt to crawl in deeper, his struggling huffs resounding as the man tries to pull him out of the duct.
You turn to look at Taehyung who is standing in shock, watching the scene unfold in a frown as he tightens the hold of the case with one hand and his gun in the other, unsure of how to proceed at the sight of his best friend being shot and caught.
Your eyes dance between the two before your instincts kick in, pulling out the knife you carried on your calf and aiming it to the guard’s ankles with one quick throw.
You watch the knife make its way straight into the man’s achilles, successfully penetrating into the skin which makes him let go of Jimin, and guide his hands to his fresh wound. He agonizes in pain as the knife perforates into his skin, the blade barely visible as the knife remains buried in his now bloody skin.
It takes Jimin a few seconds to completely disappear, his feet are quickly out of sight as he manages to successfully escape via the duct that will guide him directly to the street where you parked.
It was estimated for him to make it to the car 10 minutes after you and Taehyung arrived, but due to his injury, you’re scared he might not make it out of the asphyxiating ducts while losing so much blood.
There’s one more shot fired next to you, Taehyung taking the final man down before turning to look at you perplexed.
“What the fuck was that?” He asks in between breaths as you both begin to make a run to the car, the loud footsteps of the new wave of security man approach the scene of crime.
You don’t reply. You struggle to keep your breath stable, and there’s a few more minutes before you reach the car, so you decide to focus on your breathing and making it to the car safely before trying to process what the fuck was that.
Your legs feel numb, your muscles pounding and shutting down due to the adrenaline rush crash when you finally make it to the car, surprised to see that the car is already on.
To your surprise, you spot Jimin already sitting on the back seat, his eyes squeezed closed as he silently growls in pain from his poorly wrapped foot.
“I don’t know, but I can’t drive right now.” You finally reply to Taehyung.
Before Taehyung can reply, you slide into the back seat next to Jimin and quickly assist him with bandages Hoseok left for you in the little emergency kit.
“Let me help you,” you whisper to Jimin, who has been struggling to clean the wound and wrap it up properly due to the pain he’s experiencing.
He just growls in defeat, his hands letting go of the supplies as he grabs his knee to stabilize his leg, “Please,” it's all that comes out of his pale lips, making your heart hurt for him.
His eyes shut again as he prepares himself to feel the alcohol in his wound, which sends him into a fit of moans and grunts as you work on his open wound. A sea of quiet sorry’s leaves your mouth as you focus on making sure you don’t do more bad than good.
It doesn’t take much longer to arrive home once you had wrapped jimin’s wound, succeeding in making the bleeding decrease, but the wound was still open and he needed stitches to close it asap.
However, once you make it into the house, you realize none of the other guys are home yet, and there was only you, Taehyung, and a delirious Jimin crying his lungs out as Taehyung places him in one of the beds of Hoseok’s empty office.
〰🌫 ⋆.˚ 𓆝⋆.˚ 𓇼.°•🌫 𓆉 ⋆.˚𓇼 ⋆.˚𓆟〰
“I didn’t know you were a doctor,” Jungkook frowns as you all sit around Jimin’s bed.
“I’m not,” You frown back, turning to look at him as his eyes remain on Jimin’s perfectly wrapped foot. “But I did take some med-school classes when I started my psychiatrist studies.” You shrug your shoulders as you turn your eyes back to Jimin, who is sound asleep thanks to the medication you have been giving him for the pain.
“I thought you were a psychologist?” Taehyung questions you now as he too, stares at Jimin’s foot in awe.
“Is it a crime to want to expand your career?” You question them back, rolling your eyes at their condescending tone. “Hoseok wasn’t here and we couldn’t leave the wound unattended, alright? I did my best.” You scan the room to analyze the faces of the other guys, who all seem surprised at your medical skills, especially Hoseok.
“So you… you took the bullet out, and closed the wound?” Hoseok asks incredulously, still in shock at the news that, one, Jimin was injured, and two, you had successfully operated on Jimin's foot and have been medicating him correctly for the past two days.
“Yeah, I made sure to clean the wound properly before closing it, you should take a look, Hoseok.” You reply quietly, suddenly feeling insecure about your work.
“I will. But I don’t think I have to,” He blinks repeatedly as he stares at the photos you provided him from the whole process. You decided to keep track of everything you’ve done on your phone just in case you messed up, so Hoseok could quickly fix whatever it is you did wrong. “The stitches are healing just fine, and there hasn’t been more bleeding since you removed the bullet.” He nods to himself before looking up, “I’m not going to lie, I’m impressed.”
“Hey, you alright?” The voice comes from far in the hall just as you are about to enter your room. You turn around to see Jungkook jogging towards you.
You nod weakly, the lack of sleep due to checking on Jimin finally catching up. “Just tired,” You shrug your shoulders as you cross your arms against your chest, hugging yourself due to the coldness of the hall.
He nods back before placing his hand on your shoulder, his eyes lingering on you before he slowly embraces you. “Thank you, for saving Jimin.” He whispers in your ear before he hugs you tighter, forcing you to hug him back.
You feel him sob against your shoulder, quiet tears making your cardigan wet as he sniffs weakly.
You are not sure why he’s suddenly crying in your shoulder, but you can’t help the knot on your throat when he lets go of you, his red watery eyes staring at you through a weak smile. “I’m sorry, it’s just been an intense few days for everyone,” he laughs as he wipes his tears with the back of his hoodie sleeve. “Get some rest, I’ll speak to you later.” He smiles a little wider before opening your door, courting you to get inside as he slightly bows before he closes the door behind you, leaving you alone for the first time in the last three days.
You can’t help but cry, loud sobs escaping your lips while you make your way to the bed, laying defeated. You laugh at yourself when reminded of Jungkook. He’s right. Everyone is tired, and on edge.
We just need to rest.

CHAPTER NINE: THE AFTERMATH
‘There you are. We’ve been waiting for you!’ Jin’s loud voice greets you as soon as you walk into the living room. He signals you to join him by the dining table where he’s drinking a glass of champagne as he watches Yoongi and Namjoon play some sort of card game.
You quickly make your way across the living room and notice two new people who you’ve never seen sitting on the living room couch next to Jungkook and Taehyung. They seem too immersed in their conversation to notice you passing by, which you’re slightly grateful for.
“What are we playing here?” You greet the guys by the table with a smile as you pull a chair for yourself, sitting across from Jin and next to Yoongi.
“Poker,” Yoongi replies without taking his eyes out of the cards on the table. “Want to join?”
You sneak a peek at his cards before Namjoon calls out of the round, making Yoongi whine annoyed at the waste of a great hand.
“Nah, it’s okay. I will join you on whatever it is you're drinking though?” Your eyebrows raise as you stare at Yoongi’s glass.
He turns to you with a surprised look, “You drink whiskey?” He blinks incredulously a few times before grabbing his glass and handing it to you. “Try it first, see if you like it.”
The glass swiftly goes from his hand to yours, taking a sip of the bitter liquid. The whiskey burns your insides as you take another sip, not wanting to show them how awfully bad it tasted for you.
The three guys stare at you attentively, waiting for a reaction that never comes. Victoriously, you take one more sip before handing the glass back to Yoongi.
“I guess you are tougher than you look,” Namjoon chuckles as you wipe your lips with the back of your hand.
You smile back at him before looking at Yoongi, only to find him smirking at you. He holds the glass against his lips, before downing the rest of the whiskey.
“I’ll get you a glass then.” He says before taking his own glass and walks towards the kitchen, tripping on his own feet before disappearing behind the kitchen door.
“He must like you a lot,” Namjoon smiles big before downing poison of choice, beer. He places the empty bottle next to the others, unable to count how many bottles there were. He has to be drunk, you think to yourself.
“Yoongi doesn’t share his drinks with anyone, let alone his whiskey.” Namjoon smirks. His eyes sway from you to Jin, who shrugs at his comment.
“I know nothing,” he replies. However, if there’s something you’ve learned these past few days is that Jin is a terrible liar when he’s drunk. And he’s definitely lying right now.
“Come on now, don’t make it awkward,” You try to brush it out. “I’m sure he is just being nice.”
Both guys stare at you incredulously, sharing a look between them before chuckling. “Yes, very nice.” Jin says with a smile as he takes the champagne bottle and drinks straight from it.
You are about to call him out again when Yoongi shows up with two full glasses. Handing one to you carefully. “Here you go,” he sings before sitting down.
“So? You’re not playing?” Yoongi asks as he lights a cigarette, watching Namjoon as he shuffles the cards again.
You take a look around the room and notice the balcony door open, curiosity growing on you as you try to make out who is out.
“Actually, I might go get some fresh air. Is that okay?” You turn to look at Jin for permission, which he frowns at first but eventually understands why you are asking to begin with.
You notice his eyes turn sad as he nods, giving you a pitiful smile as you make your way past the living room and into the balcony with your whiskey in hand.
The balcony is empty, but you can hear some faint humming coming from the roof, which, lucky for you,it's easy to access from the balcony. You carefully climb onto the roof tiles, balancing your drink in one hand as you make it to the flat area.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” you freeze in place when your eyes meet Jimin’s. He is sitting down on the floor, his foot wrapped up in new bandages as he sips on his beer.
“It’s okay, the roof is big enough for the both of us,” He chuckles before drinking from his beer again. “You can join if you want.” His words are slurred, the alcohol intake becoming noticeable when you sit next to him.
“How did you climb up here?” You ask, concerned.
“I’m injured, not invalid.” He jokes as you both examine his injury.
And then, silence.
You both look out into the woods and the starry night, silently enjoying each other's company as you sip on your drinks. You can hear Jimin sighing every now and then, his eyes landing on you for a few minutes before sighing again.
“You were surprisingly good out there,” He breaks the silence. “Congrats on passing the test.”
There’s some bitterness to his words, but you can tell he is being honest in his compliment. “Thank you,” you whisper, “I got great teachers.”
He huffs, a shy smile appearing on his face as he shakes his head, “I haven’t heard that in a while… teacher” He chuckles again before downing his beer and opening a new one from his batch.
“Nam’s school?” You ask.
Jimin’s head turns to you, his eyes widening at the mention of Namjoon’s school. “You know?”
You nod your head in response. “Yeah, he told me that's where you met,” you rub your legs and cuddle your knees up to your chest due to the cold wind that just started to pick up. “What did you teach?” You stare at him with curious eyes.
You know Jimin is not very fond of you, but after taking care of him for a couple of days, you’ve grown a soft spot for him.
“Dance,” He replies with a smile, followed by another sigh.
“Oh,” You reply, genuinely surprised at his answer.
No wonder why he moves like that
“I know, it explains a lot, doesn't it?” He laughs.“ I miss those days..” he looks into the distance, “I miss my students.” His lip tightens into a straight line.
“I’m sure they miss you just as much, Jimin.” you reply softly.
He turns to look at you with a frown, “that’s cringe.” He laughs again and this time you join him before your laughs die down, the silence taking over again. But this time, it feels more welcoming, almost like a warm hug.
“I don’t hate you, you know,” Jimin breaks the silence again. His face turned to a frown as he looked down to his beer.
You humm in response, not sure what to answer to his drunken confession.
“I guess I’m just…conflicted.” He continues before turning to you. “I guess you are one of us now… Now I have to keep you safe.”
You turn to him with a pitiful smile. You appreciate his words, but you also understand where he is coming from. “ I get it.” You reply softly
He chuckles, “I’m sure you don’t,” he shakes his head, his fingers brushing back his hair as he frowns again. “Thank you, by the way. For saving my ass.”
You smile at him, “I guess I now have to keep you safe too.” You reply with a shrug.
His laugh now resonates through the woods, the echo startling you as you laugh with him.
“Y/n? Are you out here?” Jungkook’s voice interrupts you both as he makes his way to the roof. “What the hell are you doing here?” He points at Jimin’s foot with a frown. “Get your ass down before Hobi finds you.” He scolds Jimin, who replies with a grunt.
“Fine, but help me down,” he puts his arms up waiting for Jungkook to help him up, carrying him with ease over his shoulder. “It was lovely talking to you, y/n.” Jimin says before letting his upper body limp over Jungkook’s shoulder.
You laugh at the scene as Jungkook helps Jimin back into the balcony safely. Downing the last bit of your drink before he comes back to where you are sitting, taking Jimin’s place.
“So…” He starts. “How are you?”
“I’m good,” you reply, shaking your head when he offers whiskey from his glass. “It’s been lovely to see you all rest.”
“Yeah.the last few days have been intense, I’m glad it's all over.” He smiles at you, “Jimin seems to be healing properly too and it's all thanks to you.”
You shake your head, “It's all thanks to Hobi, actually.” You smile in response.
“Nah, If you didn’t knife that guy when you did, Jimin probably wouldn’t have made it back.” He says casually, and you stare confused as to how he knows what exactly had happened.
“How do you know what happened?” you ask him with a frown. Ever since the day you came back from the mission, Jungkook has been m.i.a and therefore you are certain that neither Jimin or Taehyung have spoken to him, especially because they were in Hobi’s nursery room ever since.
Jungkook stares at you with big eyes, blinking repeatedly before giving you a smile. “I was there.”
You deepen your frown, confused at what he was trying to entail. “No you weren’t.”
“Don’t worry about it,” He brushes it off. “Just know, I have eyes everywhere.” He winks at you before you push him by the shoulder, making him laugh. “You looked badass.”
“Hah, thanks.” You reply, rolling your eyes. Before taking Jimin’s half-empty beer and drinking from it.
You are startled when you feel Jungkook’s fingers fix your hair, placing it behind your ear as he stares at you with soft eyes.
“This is romantic, right?” He asks in a soft, almost whispered tone.
You can’t help but giggle, turning to look at him with fondness. “ Huh?"
“I don’t know, I’ve seen it in movies.” He shrugs with a smile.
“Well, I guess it kinda is.” you shrug back, “ But that’s weird to ask.”
He laughs before taking a sip of his drink. “Is it? I don’t know, I’ve never really experienced love before.” He sighs, tightening his lips while looking at you with sad eyes.
“I thought you had girls back in headquarters,” You reply without really thinking it through, regretting the spiteful statement as soon as it left your lips.
Jungkook closes his eyes and sighs again, “Fucking Taehyung and his big mouth,” he curses under his breath. “I know what you heard, but it's not like that.” He sits up and turns his body to you. “This is slightly embarrassing, but …” He begins.
You listen to him as he confesses that, yes, there are many girls who are interested in him back in headquarters, and he has gotten a reputation for being one of the most desired guys in The Circle. However, he never cared about it. He could tell it was all sexual, and there were no real feelings as they never tried to get to know him, but only get in his pants.
“I know it sounds ridiculous,” he continues, “but I’ve spent all my years here. When I’m not preparing for a mission, I’m yearning.” He confesses. “You know the movie Titanic?”
You laugh and nod, entertained by his yapping.
“That’s what I want.” He stops and analyzes his words before shaking his head. “I mean, not literally, but I crave a love so intense and real that consumes me.” He confesses under his breath, staring at you with big sparkling eyes. “I want to get married, have a family…” He laughs as his facial expressions turn sad. “But instead I’m stuck here,” he spitefully claims.
Your heart clenches at the sight. He seems defeated and hopeless as he speaks of his dream life, and you know too, that due to his career and the way he lives his life that this is almost impossible for him.
Your heart hurts for him.
“Have you ever been in love?” He asks in a whisper, snapping you out of your thoughts.
You sigh, before shaking your head. “I was with a guy back when I was studying, but it never got that serious.” You shrug. “I’ve never been one for love, I think. I was too focused on my career.” You think back on the days where you had the opportunity to grow with someone, and how you turned it all down because you were keen on your career being your priority.
But look where that led you to.
“I see,” He replies, his hand finding your before intertwining your fingers with his. “Do you think you’ll ever find love?” He asks you, his thumb caressing your hand as his eyes meet yours.
“I don’t think that’s in the cards for me anymore,” You reply with a sad smile, which he mimics.
“Well then,” He stands up, pulling you up by your hand. “Let’s enjoy our misery together.” He pulls you closer for a quick hug before guiding you back down to the balcony, where Yoongi and Namjoon were enjoying a cigarette together.
“Well, there you are.” Yoongi exclaims drunkenly, his eyes landing on your joined hands.
You let go of Jungkook’s hand quickly, gaining a confused look from him.
“Well, now we drink,” You say with a smile, finishing Jimin’s beer before hopping back inside, the rest of the guys joining you with a smirk.
It’s party time.

CHAPTER TEN: KNOW YOUR PLACE
“You are not going, final say,” Jin says before walking into the kitchen, leaving you alone in your tantrum.
“But jin…” You follow behind him, “you promised me I was going to be allowed in more missions!”
He scuffs before laughing as he takes a mug from the counter “Was last night not enough for you?” his eyes meet yours as he pours his third coffee of the day.
It’s been a couple of months since your first mission, and you have finally integrated as one of them. You finally feel like you’ve earned your place in the circle, and have gained all of the guy’s trust.
You learned that The Circle, rather than being the bad people, are actually an organisation that steals from the rich. They dismantle schemes and threaten the elite, constantly putting themselves in danger in the works to help others. You understand that the case you took on your first mission was an important plan for the elite, as well as half a million dollars that then went to re-building schools and hospitals that have been tragically destroyed by the real evil, The Stain.
The Stain is the counter organisation that the elites put together to fight The Circle attempts, and during your lessons with Namjoon and Jin, you’ve been up to date with the lore and the arrival of each of the members, which were forced to join The Circle because they became collateral damage to The Stains attempt to kill and harm their families.
However, once you learnt what exactly you were fighting against, you’ve slowly become one of the top members, working hand in hand with the boys in the most challenging missions possible, and there hasn’t been a single mission that you have failed yet, not until last night.
“You are not coming,” Jimin enters the kitchen, followed by Yoongi who is too focused on his phone.
Jimin sits next to you as he grabs a snack from the counter, “We fucked up because of you, there’s no chance” Jimin stares at you with threatening eyes as he takes a bite of his crackers. “And we’ll make sure you won’t be able to follow us and tag along again.”
You roll your eyes before turning your attention back to Jin, only to find him shaking his head in disapproval of your silent plea.
“Oh, come on!” You throw your head back in frustration.
You know the guys are looking after you, but you have become invested in being an asset to the group.
“ y/n.” Jin exclaims in a cold, serious tone. “What happened yesterday is not a game. Do you understand?” You straighten your back at his voice, scanning the room to all eyes glued to you with anger and concern. “I know, but-”
“But nothing. Know your place.” Jin stares at you with daggering eyes, making you shiver and for the first time, fearing him.
“I understand, I’m sorry.”
“I don’t think you do” Jungkook’s voice is loud and clear as he enters the kitchen covered in sweat. ‘What the fuck where you thinking?” He slams his gloves on the counter and stands in front of you, the anger taking over his facial expressions.
You roll your eyes and scoff before moving past him and out of the room, planning to head straight to your room and ignore Jungkook.
You were in no mood to deal with him right now.
“Excuse me? I’m talking to you.” The kitchen door swings open behind you as you walk in quick steps towards your room. “Y/N!”
“Don’t raise your voice at me, Kook.” You turn around, frustrated at the treatment you are getting.
Jungkook steps to catch up with yours, unable to stop before you turn around, causing him to bump into your chest as he heaves angrily, your voice levels growing louder.
“What the fuck were you thinking?” Jungkook now screams, his voice echoing the halls.
“I WASN'T THINKING!” You move your arms dramatically around you. “Is that what you want to hear?! For fuck sake, leave me alone!” You push his chest to create some distance.
“What’s wrong with you?!” He exclaims as you proceed to move away from him once again, re-directing yourself towards the training room rather than your bedroom. “Y/n can you not?”
Jungkook is now running behind you, causing you to speed up into the gym.
“Let her be” You hear Taehyung's voice coming out of his room, followed by a sigh and silence, his footsteps no longer following you.
You lock yourself in the training room, sighing at the silence that followed.
You turn your back to the door and lean against it, closing your eyes in frustration.
You know you are acting like a child right now, but you know it wasn’t your fault the mission failed, and now you are being unjustly punished.
[Start of Flashback]
“What the hell are you doing here?” You freeze in place as Jungkook pulls your arm from your hiding spot.
I’m so fucked, you think to yourself.
The rest of the boys turn around in surprise, guns pointed at you before they recognise it was you that was luring in the shadows and not the enemy.
“Y/n, what the-” Jin’s words are cut mid sentence by the loud sound of gunshots, causing everyone’s attention to the front, where just a few meters away was the end goal of this mission, the vault.
The guys had organised a raid to The Stain’s headquarters, and before they could execute their plan, they needed to steal the blueprints of the construction to be able to identify the exact rooms they were looking for, as well as the possible exits of the place.
You had turned into a habit to sneak out and follow the guys on small missions, and so far, you’ve never been caught, or at least not publicly.
Namjoon has been the one noticing your presence on multiple occasions, but he never said anything to anyone and waited till everyone was back home to advise you to stop following them like that. You promised you wouldn’t do it again, but yet, here you were, in the exact situation Namjoon warned you about. “The whole group will turn against you and you will be punished. I taught you well, but I taught them well too, and for longer. It’s only a matter of time before they find you, and it won’t be pretty and I won’t be able to cover for you then.”
And he was right.
The guys had to abandon the mission before getting the rolls from the vault, running to the car with you as their mission was no longer getting the plans, but to get you out alive.
The whole ride back home was quiet, except from the random bursts of anger from Jin as he sat in the passenger seat, scolding you for being so stupid.
You felt the guys’ eyes on you constantly, and the disappointment in Namjoon and Yoongi’s eyes once you got home and they found out that the reason why you didn’t join their reading club was because you were sneaking out to go after the rest of the group in such an important mission.
It was supposed to be an easy, quick one. And they failed, because of you.
[end]
“Questoning your life’s choices?” Namjoon’s voice snaps you from the flashback, your head snapping quickly towards his direction.
“Please, I’ve heard enough.” You plea as a frustrated sigh scapes your lips.
You straighten your posture and walk towards Namjoon, who had been organizing and polishing the swords on the other side of the gym.
“I hate to say it, but I told you so,” You roll your eyes as he throws his polishing towel over his shoulder, opening his arms inviting you into an embrace. “You are lucky this mission was not managed by headquarters, otherwise your ass would’ve been in real trouble.
You snuggle into his chest as his arms wrap around you. “They are mean because they care, we are all glad you’re safe.” He reassures you.
“I just -” You grunt. “It’s been weeks since I went on a mission!” You exclaim in frustration. “Jin kept saying there will be one for me soon enough, that I had to lay low for a couple of weeks because-”
“Because you’re gaining traction from The Circle. I know.” Namjoon finishes your sentence.
“Why is that so bad?” You huff in defeat as you both let go of the hug, staring into each other's eyes.
“I’m not sure.” Namjoon shrugs. “You’ve been doing great, and everyone is talking about you. It reminds me of Jungkook and Jimin back in the day.” He chuckles at the memory of their rising fame. “They might know something that we don’t, and I’m sure they are just looking after you.”
You sigh once again, your lips turning into a straight line as you look to the floor. “Do you think they are embarrassed?”
“Nah, I think there’s more to it than we realise.”
You sigh once again before your eyes meet him again, his expression full of empathy towards you.
“I’m going to go shower now,” you say, a warm shower is exactly what you need.
“You sure you don’t want to run some circuits with me?” Namjoon raises an eyebrow as his eyes point to the boxing ring. “It will help blow some steam?” He smiles faintly as he wiggles his eyebrows teasingly, causing you to chuckle.
“You know what,” you nod,”you’re right, I’ll shower after.” You reply with a faint smile as you jog towards the ring. Trusting that Namjoon will play just the right music to help you get your anger out.
〰🌫 ⋆.˚ 𓆝⋆.˚ 𓇼.°•🌫 𓆉 ⋆.˚𓇼 ⋆.˚𓆟〰
You leave the gym sweaty, but feeling much better and exhausted.
You slowly make your way to your room, your eyes closing by themselves as the exhaustion washes over you.
You are thankful that you don’t run into anyone on your way to the room, closing the door behind you as you begin to undress, pulling a fresh set of pajamas and heading to the bathroom.
As you showered, you can’t help but notice the pit on your stomach, asking to be fed. Afterall, you spent all day at the gym with Namjoon, and even after he left, you stayed behind to train by yourself until your muscles gave up. The sun was already going down, and you dreaded the idea of going to dinner, so you decided to stay in the gym cleaning the windows and folding the clean towels during that time.
You heard someone knocking as you placed the clean towels in their place, but you ignored it until it stopped, turning the speakers louder to let whoever was outside know that you were not in the mood.
You turn the faucet off and wrap yourself in your towel, walking into your room as you wrapped a second towel on your head to dry your hair.
You are startled when you notice Yoongi placing a tray with food in your room, his full attention to being quiet and slow so you wouldn’t hear him.
You clear your throat making him freeze in place, his head turning slowly towards your direction. “Ah, I realised you didn’t make it to dinner, so I made you some food.” He speaks quietly, his eyes finding the floor as his cheeks turn a light pink. “I didn’t want to disturb-”
“Thank you, Yoongi,” You reply in the same tone, gaining a few nods from him. “And I’m sorry, for being so reckless. I never intended to be a liability to any of you.”
You can feel a knot in your throat forming as you walk closer to the bed, picking up your pajamas and walking back to the bathroom to change.
“No need, I’ll leave.” Yoongi says as he makes his way towards the exit, reassuring you that you don’t have to change in the bathroom, as he did what he came to do already.
His hands are on the handle, and before he turns it, you speak. “Please stay.”
Your voice is low and fragile, clearly holding tears as you wait for a reply that never comes. Instead, you watch him stand straight, and slowly walk back to where he was standing a minute ago, slowly sitting in your bed before turning to you with a faint smile. “Okay.” He whispers.
You quickly change in the bathroom and once you’re back, you notice Yoongi is sitting in your bed with both feet up, resting his back against a pillow as he flicks through the pages of your book. “Seems like a good book, do you like it?”
You smile and crawl into bed next to him, taking the book from him as he sits up and takes the tray of food to his lap.
“It’s alright, I’m more into non-fiction to be honest,” you shrug “ but it's entertaining. And I promised Tae I was going to read it.
“Ahhh, I should've known this was Tae’s book. You don't strike me as an alien invasion kind of girl.” You both giggle at his comment as he passes you the perfectly toasted wrap.
“Thank you,” You mouth before taking a bite.
You sit quietly as you finish your dinner, Yoongi peacefully watching you enjoy the food he made for you with a grin, chuckling every now and then at the silence. It's not awkward at all, but rather comforting to be in the presence of someone that is not reminding you how stupid you were.
“You know, they got the papers at the end.” Yoongi breaks the silence.
You turn with a frown, “What do you mean?”

Yoongi holds your hand as he nods, his fingers playing with yours and he intertwines them. “Yeah,” he chuckles, “Some look better than others.”
“What do you mean?” You feel your heartbeat resonate in your ears, the pounding growing as by Yoongi’s skepticism.
“Well, Jungkook got into a fight.”
