    They can just barely see a hint of expression behind the stranger’s sunglasses. The curve of the brow, a twitch in the corner of his lips… He looks… afraid? No. Concerned. Even when the child offers a smile, he still has that expression. He stares and continues to stare, but not like he’s seeing. No, that’s the face of someone listening. 

    But for what?

    The child says nothing. He will hear nothing.

What was with this city and the disrespect people showed to one another, but especially to Kayneth? Granted, he had only just arrived in this place, but there was still a modicum of deference that had to be shown to one of his station in life... as well as one in his unfortunate position. So, to see someone standing in the handicapped space without a care in the world while listening to music on some infernal device was quite aggravating.

Two minutes. He’d left his spot at this internet cafe for two minutes, draping his hoodie over the seat to prevent precisely a situation like this. As soon as Victor had returned from a quick toilet break the young man could see some asshole with largeass headphones had occupied the spot, sitting on his hoodie and using the computer.

Wait... he was using... the computer. Did that mean he had login access? If he did, that meant Victor could potentially tap into the infrastructure of this Hive City system, or at the very least something with information about exactly how the scientists had designed their own quantum teleporter. First, though, he had to get this guy’s attention. Judging by the size of the headphones, they were probably bass heavy... so the easiest thing to alert this guy was emit a sharp, shrill sound. Step one, insert middle and index fingers into mouth. Step two, blow. Step three, ??? Step four. wait for a response.
