Just finished watching this conversation with barbara hammer and cheryl dunye produced by the doc film forum and available through alexander street and god. It was produced one year before Hammer's death and the conversation between the two and their friendship inspires me so much. I want to be able to meet Dunye one day. I love seeing into the rich lives of these incredibly influential people.
Some quotes that stuck out to me were:
"mirroring myself through the touching of a body like my own" Hammer
"everything that we have inside of us is all we need" Dunye
It reminds me of another quote I have written down from David Lynch's 'The Art Life' documentary "you have everything you need in 2 blocks". As an artist I find myself insecure of what I know or what I make and they remind me to have confidence in myself.
