Started and finished #reading Who Was Changed and Who Was Dead by Barbara Comyns. Just couldn’t resist that title. The book is daaaaaark but also short and gripping and bleakly funny: like Cold Comfort Farm written by Shirley Jackson. I hope you are having a nice relaxing weekend! I just read #OurSpoonsCamefromWoolworths by #BarbaraComyns followed by Hunger by #KnutHamsun both of which are about struggling young people. The rest of these books are high in my #toberead list. My latest criteria for choosing books to read is: 1. Not feminist - because I tend to read feminist books all the time. 2. Not about racism - I have read a lot about racism this year. 3. Written by men - I have read mostly books written by women in the last couple of years. 4. Non European - I have mostly read European books all my life. Do you have a criteria for choosing books to read?

On a recent trip to NY, I stopped by McNally Jackson, an independent bookstore in NoLita, & couldn't resist picking up these beauties. I've been meaning to read some Leonora Carrington as I find her a very interesting person. The other two were cover & blurb buys.
