MARRRRRR I know how obsessed with this you currently are, and I fucking love you for it.
Because it’s about halfway done, you can have a snippet! 💕💕 I adore you.
For those not in the group chat where Mar asks me for this every day, this is from an enemies to lovers, florist Zayn, barber Liam fic I’m currently writing with probably too much sexual tension, miscommunication, and an...intense scene where Liam shaves Zayn’s face with a straight razor.
You can’t have that scene though, so here’s a different one 😘
Liam was incredibly grateful for his years of training and experience when the door to his shop slammed open. The bang was almost deafening, even over the music and the chatter of his customers that had just seemed to trail off. Liam’s hand didn’t jolt or twitch at the interruption, his fingers still steady as he tilted the man’s face carefully to glide the blade along his jaw.
“Payne!” The voice was furious, loud and frustrated, and the accent unmistakable.
Liam sighed, smiling tight lipped at Niall when he came to take over.
“Let me, mate. You should deal with him.” Niall raises a careful eyebrow at him as he wiped down his blade.
Liam gently cleaned his own before whipping it closed and putting it in his pocket. The whole shop was quiet now, the only sound the electric razor Harry was using at the corner seat, and Liam took a deep breath, and spun around.
“Malik! What can I do for you today?”
Liam hated confrontation with anyone, hated fighting or being put in an awkward situation. It made his face heat up and his heart race, his stomach leap up into his throat. He always felt restless, desperate to put an end to it as quickly as possible.
With this though, it wasn’t the arguing that made Liam’s skin flush red, that made him feel like he was going insane. It was that Zayn was breathtaking when he was angry, all clenching fists, fiery eyes, and flushed cheeks.
It didn’t make him less of a wanker, but it did throw Liam off guard. He stood in the centre of the room with his arms folded, raising what he knew was a slightly condescending eyebrow.
Zayn seemed to shake himself before he stalked forward and jabbed Liam in the chest. “Your delivery is in front of my van, again! The girls have to deliver 25 orders today Payne, move your fucking shit.” Zayn was sneering at him, his words only slightly better than a hiss, but Liam still couldn’t quite concentrate.
“I didn’t even know it was there, mate,” Liam shot back, standing up straighter just as Zayn stood his ground. “I’m happy to move it, I’ll do it right now, but don’t come in here while I’m trying to do a job, and disrupt my entire shop over something that you could’ve just asked me.”
He watched as Zayn swallowed heavily, the fight seeming to slightly drain from his body, but Zayn’s eyes flickered to Liam’s mouth, and he was sick of pretending that he didn’t want him anymore.
He reached up, lightly gripping Zayn’s chin and running his thumb along his jaw. “The only reason you should come in here is to let me fix this up,” Liam murmured, shifting his grip to tickle at the beard under his chin. “But I make house calls, too.”
