Teddie Tuesday 🎖️

yeah, yeah, me again. i have to pause for the evening and this felt like a nice place to share. from a prompt for @dangerpronebuddie 💖

Click. Click. Click. Click. Clack. Brrrrrr. Clack. Clack. Clack. Brrrrr. Zhhhhhhh. The erratic rhythm of typewriters and adding machines plays in the background, same as every other day. Part of the soundtrack to Eddie’s life from nine to five. The other players consist of chairs scraping against linoleum, women’s heels clicking along at an efficient pace, rubber stamps thumping from ink pad to paper. It’s mundane and miserable and Eddie hates every second. He supposes it's a small consolation that it's only office machinery instead of artillery; that the worst thing that could happen to him on any given day is a paper cut rather than a bullet wound. But even if it makes him mentally compare his necktie to a noose, it’s never bad enough to entice him back to El Paso. Few things are, but Lord knows his mother won’t stop trying. If they gave it a chance, he thinks his parents would probably like California. Getting used to the towns and climate didn’t take long. Maybe that’s just because landing here, staking a claim with their house–actually theirs and not an offshoot of his parent’s property–felt like the first he could properly breathe since he got discharged. Like a tight band had been squeezing his chest and lungs, but a benevolent being finally took pity and loosened it for him. Living here is a far cry from the days when he and Shannon followed each other around like shadows, slipping through the fields and fences with hardly a care in the world. But if he’s being honest with himself, something that happens in debatable quantities these days, that would be true anywhere. Especially if they’d decided to stay. He couldn’t understand at the time, fought Shannon tooth and nail about it, but he can admit now that if she hadn’t pushed him to consider a change they would still be slowly suffocating on that adjacent property. And there are other things that wouldn’t have happened. Things he can only just acknowledge in the pitch black of night. Things he thought were left buried on another continent, that would gradually seep into the earth and be lost to time. Secrets murmured in the German hills, stolen moments in a Parisian hole-in-the-wall club, useless promises made in a bombed out cafe. Hushed confessions uttered in an abandoned farmhouse that bore witness to their sins. Sin. As if the reason they crossed the Atlantic in the first place wasn’t already stained with it. The only difference is people don’t seem to mind when you call it patriotism.

"He is has co-parenting a child with his best friend, Eddie, basically since they met, 8 years ago. So much so, that it is canon that Eddie would have lost custody of his kid if he didn't meet Buck. Along with that, Eddie trusted him so much with his child that he put it in his will that if he dies, Buck will be his son's legal guardian. On multiple occasions, when he is sad, someone brings him a child to cheer him up and it WORKS. He is canonically an incredible baker so he'd be a good house wife. He is a firefighter, so he knows how to prioritize the health and well-being of those who are more vulnerable, even when he is struggling in his personal life. He literally JUMPED INTO A TSUNAMI when he was OFF DUTY to save a child that wasn't his own. TALK ABOUT MOTHERLY INSTINCTS. He had bad parents and was raised by his older sister, something he has acknowledged as an adult, so he understands the difference between good parenting and bad parenting. He is in therapy, a choice he made on his own because he knew he wasn't okay and wanted to be more okay, so he is self-aware and very capable of self-reflection and growth. He is basically a dad already, but he would absolutely love being pregnant ^ see again, people bring him children when he's sad."

“Eddie?” “M-maddie,” he grits out. His cheek presses to the cool wall and it feels like a relief, like a first breath after being submerged. The tear in his side is searing but for a singular moment it’s shuttered out. “Shooter. Hospital. Gotta- gotta tell them.” “Eddie, where are you?” Her calm dispatcher persona barely covers the panic creeping in. “No time. Jus-” Fire rips through him as he shifts his weight and it’s all he can do not to cry out. “Eddie?!” “Just tell them. At least one coming up the stairs. Straight for ‘em.” “Okay, okay, hold on.” He expects the line to go dead or to at least be put on hold. Instead, he’s privy to Maddie’s call into Chim. Blackness fades in and out, accompanied by the ringing in his ears. He only wishes it was louder so he didn’t have to hear the two of them. So he could be ignorant to warnings mixed with ‘make it home’ and ‘I love you’. Right now there’s only one thing–one voice–he wants to hear, other than his kid.

He thinks he could have been reachable again. Maybe. If Eddie had stayed and been willing to help Buck reach into the gaping cavern of his chest. To reach past his snapped and jagged ribs; to the tiny bone fragments dusting his heart, and threatening to absorb into his veins and arteries. Buck could have even helped with Eddie’s. Because isn’t that what Eddie wanted? For Buck to ask and be there for him? Except Eddie left. Again. And now Buck is probably up to the 105th act of his trials and tribulations. Maybe he’ll make it to 118 before he’s done. Morbidly, he considers it could be his version of Bobby’s book. The one he kept to track his personal body count. Except deep down Buck knows real life isn’t so transactional and eye for an eye. Sins can’t be swapped like pretty, shiny coins and put you in the black. But they can let him hold multiple truths. The knowledge that this is a terrible idea and the belief that it’s the best thing for him. Others have taken pieces of him. He was quite literally made to be used. How is it any different that he does it himself, especially when it’s his own choice?

with some hollanov, from a fic I've been working on. Shane has a boyfriend but the sex is... average, so maybe he wants to know what it's like to feel passion and fire and to be desperately wanted. enter Ilya Rozanov.

“So… what do you want Hollander?” he said softly, and he was leaning in again.

“I… I don’t know. Just…” he felt a warmth in his cheeks. It’s not like he knew how to say it. “I want…”

He’d never really said exactly what he wanted. He probably should have, maybe then he wouldn’t be sitting in this situation having this conversation with Rozanov of all people. Maybe he wouldn’t be having these thoughts about him.

“You want to be wanted? Hmm? You want someone to touch you like… they cannot help it?”

Rozanov reached up to run the pad of his thumb over Shane’s bottom lip, and he had the strongest urge to take it into his mouth.

“You’re flirting with me again,” he said against Rozanov’s thumb, and he knew that he was staring at his mouth, but he couldn’t stop himself.

“Yes,” his voice was so quiet that Shane barely heard it.

It would be so easy, the voice inside him mused. You could kiss him.

Hiiii Wolf, thank you so much! Have a little (very unedited) bit of Luc and Efren's first meeting.

Luc’s blade cut through the air in a wide arc, catching the mephit in the neck and neatly severing its head from its shoulders. Thick globules of mud spattered in place of blood, coating Luc’s arms and sword. He tightened his grip, fingers flexing over the soft leather of the hilt. “See!” he panted, turning towards Archibald with a triumphant grin. “I can take care of myself!” The words had no sooner left his mouth when Luc heard a rustling in the trees above. Angling his head upwards, he caught a glimpse of silvery light flashing among the leaves. A rush of fear spread from his chest to the tip of his fingers – had they angered a dryad, or some sort of tree guardian? Preparing for the worst, Luc lifted his sword, the blade poised in front of his face and – A figure dropped from the trees and landed behind him, spearing a mephit that had evaded Archibald’s keen eye, and had been sneaking up to grab at Luc. Luc spun around as the creature died with a wet gurgle, a claw still extended towards Luc’s ankle, mere inches from catching his heel and ripping at his Achilles tendon. “What the-?” The figure – a man – straightened and wiped a vicious-looking dagger on the edge of his well-worn cloak. He pushed back his hood, revealing a twinkling set of forest green eyes and an amused smirk. It struck Luc that this was one of the most beautiful men he’d ever seen. “Take care of yourself, hmm?” The stranger stowed his blade and wiped a fleck of mud from his chin. “One more second and that mephit would have crippled you.”

some questions about your original fiction because im very intrigued: what are luc's greatest strengths and weaknesses? what's your favorite thing about him and efren? also, what would you say is at the heart/core of the story?

Strengths and weaknesses:

Luc is such an open-hearted man who feels so deeply and strongly about things. He wants connection with people, he wants to hear their stories and learn about their lives, and he would give the shirt off his back to help someone, which I think is his greatest strength. His greatest weakness, though through no fault of his own, is his naivety. He has lived an extremely sheltered life and simply cannot comprehend the thought of not having enough to eat, or having small shelters, or even what to expect when he's on the road in terms of thieves or monsters. It can make him seem a bit out of touch, or dim witted sometimes, but he simply doesn't know what he doesn't know. It does get him into trouble on occasion but it's never from a place of maliciousness.

Favourite things:

My favourite thing about Luc is his readiness to plunge headfirst into adventure without really thinking about it first. It gets him into all sorts of fun situations, and he just takes it on the chin. He moves through the world with chaos swirling around him, but he is so very calm in the face of it all. An unbothered king.

My favourite thing about Efren is his cheeky streak. He is the eldest of 4 children, and he has 3 younger sisters, so he is very good and well trained in the arts of mischief and fuckery. He clocks Luc as a nobleman immediately, despite Luc's best efforts to hide it, and refers to him as "little lordling" for a while. He loves to tease Luc and Archibald, and makes their journey a lot of fun. Even Luc is surprised with how much he lets Efren get away with.

Heart of the story

Okay so it is a fantasy/adventure story but it is also a queer romance too and I feel like that is an important part of it too. There is a lot of Chose Your Destiny about it, and breaking away from familial expectations. Both Luc and Efren have expectations/rules laid out for them by their families that they either don't understand/ don't like, and they decide to forge their own path through the world and make their own rules, despite some of the consequences that may have. It is ultimately a story about breaking out of the mold/ finding your true self in a world where that might not be the easiest task.

Hi hello it has been such a long time since I was last super active here, mostly due to work and the absolute insanity that has created, but I have started writing a piece of original fiction and really want to yell about it somewhere.

A brief rundown - Luc Pessard, son of the King of Abrynth, does not want to be king someday. He wants to travel! He wants to be a tourist! Accompanied by a very reluctant member of the King's Guard (Sir Archibald Winslow), and a half-hearted blessing from his father, Luc goes travelling. With Sir Archibald posing as his elderly Uncle Archie, Luc sees the forests, mountains, and beaches of Abrynth, meeting all sort of colourful characters along the way, the most notable of whom is a young ruffian named Efren Capello, who rescues Luc and Archibald from an unfortunate encounter with a swarm of mud mephitis. Efren is fascinated with Luc, having never met a nobleman before, and offers to act as a guide of sorts. Forming a strange little trio, Luc, Efren, and the long-suffering Archibald traverse the country, and as they travel, Luc becomes more and more captivated by his carefree, wildborne guide. Little does he know, Efren is just as intrigued by him. Neither of them really want the journey to end, but duties and long-forgotten secrets form barriers between them and what could be their happy ending.
