i love feanorian erestor BUT i also love avari erestor AND i adore erestor and glorfindel courting in gondolin so to reconcile these three origins i present my hc:
erestor is the son of caranthir, born in thargelion before the dagor bragollach. avari tribes roaming in lothlann had crossed the blue mountains and come to dwell by the river gelion. they merged with caranthir's people and caranthir eventually took one as his wife. tada erestor is born somewhere around F.A. 50 but caranthir's crazy ass drives his wife away and she flees with young erestor to doriath. thingol does not want to deal with feanorian drama. so he sends them to turgon.
erestor is not so young that he doesn't remember his father but because he is a) not at his majority and b) wasn't born when aqualonde happened turgon allows him and his mother to stay, provided they serve in one of the twelve houses. erestor gets assigned to the house of the mole (lol) and serves under maeglin (lol). very few people know about his feanorian blood as turgon agrees to keep it a secret. (he gossips abt it w thingol tho). glorfindel and erestor meet in an extremely convoluted and funny way and they court and fall in love and marry and then glorfy dies the end!
