"Oh shit!"
"It's gonna be alright."
"It hurts so bad!"
"The pain will stop any minute."
"Jesus, Maria, Joseph!"
"You don't need their help, I'm here for you. "
Sonny lets out a deep groan. He palms his face with his non-injured hand and puts his head in his neck so that he cannot see his big injury.
Rafael knees in front of him, admittedly still very confused about what is happening. He holds a band aid in his hand and looks down to Sonny's hand in his. There's a burn right across Sonny's thumb. Nonetheless, this kind of injury wasn't even worth mentioning to your parents back in the Bronx.
"Maybe we should consult a doctor?"
He cannot be serious, Rafael thinks, but tries to feel his partner's pain.
"We can put more of this aloe vera cream if you want, but otherwise the wound is not very big."
"I know, I know," Sonny whines and doesn't sound like he means it.
For the record, Sonny has put the aloe vera cream in Rafael's fridge in case he burns himself while cooking.
So in cases like this.
"More ice?"
"No," Sonny moans. "Do what you have to," he adds, gathering all his bravery.
Without further ado Rafael puts the band aid onto the wound.
"That didn't hurt, did it?"
"Is it done already?" Sonny spreads his fingers and dares a short peek through them.
"Uhm? Yes."
"Oh, thank god!"
"Again, thank me!"
"I do."
Sonny throws his long arms around his neck and nearly makes them both fall onto the ground.
Rafael squeezes him gently, holds him tight and waits until Sonny is better.
"Burns really hurt, you know," Sonny says while he's still embracing Rafael.
"I know," Rafael answers honestly.
"Then why do use kid's band aids."
Rafael chuckles. Sonny is actually right. Rafael saw those band aids with Noah and had to buy them, too, because he thought they would fit Sonny well.
"It's just a coincidence."
"Really?"
"They were on sale."
"Rafael?"
"Yeah."
"They have giraffes on them."
Rafael laughs and finally pulls himself out of Sonny's giant hug.
"Just be more careful next time," Rafael concludes kissing Sonny on the nose.
