Fun fact! Cushion is the only G1 pet to get a redesign for g2.

Most of the time if a G1 pet appeared in G2 it’d just be the same design right down to the mold used.

This is likely due to G2’s incredibly short development window. They likely lacked the time (or the interest) in reworking all the pet designs.

Unlike G3 which was planned out carefully for a long time, G2 was too rushed developmentally for them to waste time on stuff like the pets.

With one exception. Cushion.

Cushion of all pets got a redesign for g2! Marking her third redesign. (Going from grey/orange to pink for howleens awful texturist 13 wishes redesign)

Cushion gaining a new blue colour palette, safety pin bow, and seemingly cementing the push for cushion to be in a more bipedal stance. Overall quite cute!

But I’m not surprised by her presence and more… confused. Both for her and the g2 howleen doll she comes with. For one reason.

Howleen isn’t canon to g2’s lore. At all. In fact she was early on actively replaced. At first spiritually with Barker and then more firmly with Pawla.

G2 Clawdeen has 12 brothers and three sisters. Her sisters being pawla, packlyn, and weredith. Not howleen.

Nor do I think they were planning to introduce her. Because it’d be very redundant to do so.

The webisodes hadn’t even gotten to the point of introducing pawla yet! (They unfortunately never did.) Her first established major G2 little sister!

We only know she’s lore canon thanks to her little sister book.

If they were going to introduce a little sister of G2 clawdeens to the webisodes it’d be her.

Which makes the fact howleen not only got a doll in a g2 line with a canon g2 sibling (alivia) bizarre but also the fact it is a completely brand new mold (for her and cushion) is frankly baffling to me.

That’s a weird amount of effort for a doll of a character G2 seemingly wanted nothing to do with.

It’s kinda the perfect embodiment of g2’s doll line and its unstable identity.

Monster High Barker Wolf Custom!

One of 12 brothers, and presumably a twin based on his appearance in Clawdeen's g2 introduction webisode. Barker doesn't have much personality beyond being a rambunctious wolf pup.

My attempt at putting together a personality for him means that he's a nice kid that often gets pushed aside in favor of the others in his pack.

He's meticulous about his personal grooming because it's something in his life that he can control, and has interests in fashion like his older sister's Pawla and Clawdeen. He's bleached his hair and dyed it blue in attempt to stand out from the rest of his siblings. While it might not have helped to distinguish him from the rest of his siblings to most people, it did make him stand out to one ghoul in particular! Fangelica!

Draculaura being both Clawdeen's best friend and Clawd's girlfriend means that Fangelica was around the house very often! She became good friends with all of the Wolf's, but took particular note of Barker!

The two of them and the other ghouls, Pawla and Ebbie have formed a little pack of their own!

As for the actual creation of Barker, I got a little more creative than I have with past little siblings dolls! Despite having a natural skintone, there's only one male LOL Tween so I've had to repaint his body to match his skintone.

I'm pretty happy with how the color matching went for me, as I had to use quite a bit of color theory to get to the right undertone.

When I finished painting him I felt like something was missing, and that's when I figured out that I wanted him to still have his tail! So I carefully cut out and drilled a hole in his lower back for the tail that came with his original body. It worked pretty well! I might do this for Pawla too, but I'm not sure yet.

I think I want to start doing these posts but in the format of character biographies, so look out for those!

I kinda want to make his twin brother Pawl, so you might see that if I can get ahold of another Barker doll or maybe if MGA releases another male tween doll so I can have some real clothes to put on him. Who knows if they'll ever release another male tween though?

The 12 werepups in g2 can be divided into groups by the designs of their shirts and shorts. When sorted like this, the different groups also share eye colors.

Barker (the blond version, not pink haired) is also the only one with an outfit that doesn't precisely match the others, likely cause he's specifically matched to Pawla.

Hey, remember when I put Pawla on a Barbie Extra Body? Tried it with Barker, too. I like the boots for him, but I think his head is just bigger enough compared to Pawla's that it's not as good. I don't really want to try shrinking a head with molded hair, but I might try him on a creatable world body if I have one that matches. The downside ofc is that his clothes won't fit and he won't have the cute shoes.

Monster High ankle biters lol. Truthfully I did not like these when they first come out as they appeared in the reboot which I was bitter about anyway and the fact that people had been wanting siblings for years so it seemed a bit too little, too late.

They’ve grown on me:) My only real complaint is they are hard to clothe, especially the werewolves; the splayed fingers on the other two are tough enough to maneuver through tiny sleeves but the massive paws of the werewolves make it near impossible (not to mention the paws looks stupid with their little spindly arms)! Fortunately Ebbie and Barker came with their clothes and ironically this hand-me down tee of Howleen’s makes a cute dress for Pawla:) Fangelica’s wearing a Kelly dress that had stretchy sleeves; nothing else I had fit or I liked. I might end up crocheting her a dress, especially if I manage to get her wings. At least I don’t have to worry about shoes!
