Awakening Gender Lens
I was in a group with Christian, Taylor, Laurel and Jessica. We were given the project to examine the Awakening through a Gender Lens. We did this by comparing the actions and words towards woman by characters in the novel with real life situations. Like so with our contrasting of the actions, such as seeing your wife as property rather than a human being, we discovered that Kate Chopin really had more meaning in her writings rather than just a suicidal mom. Chopin showed us with the Gender Lens we used that her character challenged societal constructs in each of her actions she took.
