when i found out i went back and watched an episode of bart and then an episode of mckay and i could Occasionally hear it in the voice or see it in the face but they’re Such different characters and it was something about the way she Walked like the physical shape her body makes as she moved that was when i could really See It

A Dirk Gently theory

So I’ve been rewatching Dirk Gently and I kept thinking through S1, “oh my god, Ken you traitor”. You know, because of the whole Blackwing thing. But in the last episode of season one, ‘Two sane guys doing normal things’, Bart said that Ken has fulfilled his destiny so it would be alright if he left. But Ken said he didn’t want to leave leading to him being captured along with Bart and it was all sweet because they grew to be friends and Bart wasn’t lonely anymore etc.

But I think Ken was supposed to leave. That was what the universe wanted. It knew it was the best way. Because if he left he would’ve been a much better person who’d probably have gone one to do something more meaningful than his pre-Bart self was doing. But he stayed and he’s a very intelligent person allowing him to rise to the top of Blackwing and, therefore, Bart’s kill list. He became his worst self and the universe had to stop him through its very own justice system: Bart.

Bonus: I genuinely believe that if Ken left he would’ve come back a better person with a new destiny of saving Bart from Blackwing rather than joining Blackwing.
