Drysdale formed one of the most formidable one-two starting pitching combos with fellow Hall of Famer Sandy Koufax. Drysdale finished with a 209-166 career record with an astounding 2.95 ERA. From 1962-1966, Drysdale went 85- 54 with a .260 ERA with 179 appearances, 177 games started. Of those games started, Drysdale completed 77 of those with 17 shutouts and 2 saves to boot. Add 9 NL All-Star appearances and the 1962 Cy Young Award (his teammate Koufax won the award in 1963, 1965-1966)

While he was mainly a backup catcher, he worked as a spy for the Office of Strategic Services during World War II. The book The Catcher Was a Spy: The Mysterious Life of Moe Berg by Nicholas Dawidoff has to be one of the best Baseball books I've ever read.
