Review: Basewood

Basewood Alec Longstreth Phase 7 Comics, 2014 Originally published in Phase 7 #005 - 009, 2005 - 2012 5 chapters, 5/5

I have spoken at length before about the inspirational qualities of Alec Longstreth’s work. He is the kind of man who makes you feel like you can do anything, who makes you want to try to create all the things that you always wanted to but, for some reason, just didn’t. Basewood is Longstreth’s most impressive work to date. He spent seven years of his life writing, drawing, and crosshatching and it shows in the immense amount of absolutely beautiful detail and love on every page. I can honestly say that this is one of the best books I have ever read, and that you should buy it, read it, and cherish it right now.
