The buildings in the historic South Street Seaport neighborhood were designed for sea – trade businesses, and the streets themselves are made of landfill that includes entire ships! Cheer on your fellow New Yawkah's as they race in the 12th Annual Aquaphor NYC Triathlon, an Olympic distance race consisting of a 1500m swim, a 40k bike, and a 10k run.
Each year, over 3,000 athletes swim the Hudson River, bike along Manhattan's West Side highway, and then run through New York's famed Central Park.
The race starts with the swim portion at 99th St and Hudson River and exits at the 79th St boat basin. The athletes will then bike from Riverside Park at 79th St up the Henry Hudson Pkwy where they will U-turn and ride back down to 57th St, where they will u-turn again and back to 79th St. From there they will run to Central Park and 72nd St, complete the northern loop, and finish the race just west of the bandshell.
