I want to thank @kallisto-k and @writer-in-theory (tagged the wrong mod yesterday, sorry!!! Blamig my sleep deprived brain) for their endless patience and grace in the wake of my brain being absolutely shattered from starting a new job at the start of October and endless hours of intense training on Teams killing my will to do more than blob on the couch playing my game on my phone...

Summary:
Steve doesn't believe in soulmates, because he's nearly thirty and surely, he'd have found them by now, right?
But, instead, he keeps getting roped into being the best man and he's over it.
When he sees Billy Hargrove behind the bar at his father's wedding, he's like a dream come true.
They share a perfect kiss, then the world conspires against them.
Until Robin steps in as the best wingwoman ever.

âYouâre late.â
Billy doesnât reply because yes, he is aware. Instead, he takes off his leather jacket, swapping it for the black apron with Heatherâs catering companyâs logo on it. He reaches into the pocket to get his name tag and puts it on.
âCar wouldnât start and the rideshare guy got a flat on his way to my place.â Billy pats his pockets then remembers he quit smoking over five years ago. âIâm sorry, okay, Hank?â he adds when he notices the thunderous look on Heatherâs face.
âYou keep saying that but I donât know that I believe you.â
âOh, come on. Iâm here, arenât I?â He glances at the timeline that the soul binding planner pinned to the noticeboard by the door. âPlenty of time.â
With another glare, she huffs then turns back to whatever she was setting up before Billy barged into the kitchen. He knows sheâll get over it. Theyâve been friends since they were both lifeguards at the pool in Indiana, the summer after they graduated high school, over a decade ago.
âIgnore her,â Robin says as she walks in carrying a wooden crate full of lemons. âThe happy couple demanded a last minute amendment to the menu and you know how my soulmate feels about those.â
Billy winces because, yeah, he sure fucking does. He checks the to-do list with his name on it, indicating his station, and starts taking the plates out of the boxes. Gold filigree on fine china. Fancy. âWho do we have today?â Billy asks, wiping the plates with a soft cloth and making neat piles of ten on the countertop.
âHarrington-Wheeler,â Heather replies, not turning around.
The dainty china plate Billy is cleaning crashes onto the tile floor. He vaguely registers the noise, his mind replaying the two words his best friend casually threw at him. At that moment, he feels rather murderous towards her. Robinâs hand on his arm pulls him out of his trance.
He snaps out of it and puts down the cloth. Takes a deep breath. Turns around and locks eyes with Heather. âI canât be here.â
âRelax,â Heather throws his way, a smirk on her red lips.
âHankâŚâ Billy closes his eyes and tries that box breathing his counsellor taught him.Â
âI wouldnât do that to you, Blue. I promise.â
âThen whoâŚ?â
Robin bumps shoulders with him. âYou might want to sit down for thisâŚâ
THEY CAME!!! (And two days apart I might add â¤ď¸)
Absolutely thrilled at what I got from @basiatlu and @avalonlights, and Steve and Billy love them too â¤ď¸đ
(Also, fun little tidbit, my Steve pop came with a messed up foot so he can't stand on his own, meaning that he needs to be leaned up against Billy to stay upright â¤ď¸)
@basiatlu is an illustrator and comic artist with a flair for nostalgia and sweat. She enjoys drawing Billy as an excuse to create more artwork depicting some of her favorite things: cigarette smoke, muscles, and angst.

If you can't tell by the name, I sim because I love it and I have no problem sharing my creations just because so it won't be time wasted. But I admire artists so much and it makes me happy knowing my story can inspire you in any way.
Also as a side note, it's a bit hilarious that if you search crying gif on here now you get a PSA full of crisis resources. LOL sometimes a girl wants to simulate she's crying a river of tears but it's a good thing tumblr. Yeesh.
